Hi,

Is there anything wrong with having a 7foot hose when recreational diving?
Any special considerations etc.? I am diving a single 80 Alu tank on a Zeagle Ranger.

I have 2 reg setups, one single tank reg, and my doubles setup. I use a 7 foot hose on the primary on every dive. Everything is always in the same spot, so it gets very comfortable and ascustomed to it. The only special consideration is where to stow the loop. I hook it under my cutters on my waist strap of my backplate.

Thanks, Just put the 7 foot on my kit today and want to be sure that I am not out of line before heading out to get wet this weekend. I am planning on clipping my Octo to the top righthand ring on my BCD.

For a DPV, you need a long hose (7 ft is very nice and long) to share air while you tow a buddy. Therefore I normally use a long hose anytime I dive, since normally I have access to my DPV, whether or not I use it on a particular dive.

If you like the curl of a long hose better than the play-out of a 22 inch or 40 inch typical hose length, then you may want to try out 5 ft, 6 ft, and 7 ft to see which works best for your size.

Otherwise, there is nothing magical about a 22 inch, 40 inch, or 7 ft or any other size.

The 7 footer is nice just in case you ever get a DPV, or penitrate narrow caves or caverns, or swim through one of those modern man-made shipwrecks, with nice tunnels and chambers in them (after you take the course, of course).

Bungee the secondary or everyone will laugh at you and you'll look like a :dork2:

I assume you mean a surgical tubing necklace?

Yes. A long hose without a bungeed secondary is like wearing half a bikini. Too weird.

No. There's nothing right about using it either.
