Sorry for the slow response, I was stuck out on a research vessel all day (no internet).

I've never done Beavertail myself but I have been wanting to so it sounds like a good idea to me as long as the weather cooperates.

What time would you like to meet? Beavertail high tide is at 9:56 am on Sunday. Perhaps we could meet around 9ish at parking lot 3? That way would could get in around slack water.

Once we are there we can we can make a call about the conditions, and if they don't look good we can just move up the road to Ft Wetherill or something.

Also about v1_matst's suggestion of 2 dives. Depending on how much time people have Sunday I would also be up for doing a second tank. Perhaps the second one at a more leisurely access point than Beavertail.

(edited message to clarify)

I just got my tanks filled and can make Beavertail around 9:30 am since I'm coming from CT. I also want to do a second dive probably at Ft Wetherill. My suggestion may be to get an advanced buddy so I can take a dive thru the Arch at the tip of the island and possibly under the overhangs.

Please let it be noted the Beavertail dive is strenuous and every diver in our group has been winded at one time or another while doing the Beavertail dive.

I'll check back throut the night to see if 9:30 am will do for a Beavertail meeting then dive. I also strongly recommend we do a briefing for those doing beavertail for their first time.

I hope we can make it happen

That plan sounds good to me. I will meet you there. Which parking lot is best to meet? Lot 3 seems like where I have heard of most people diving.

I'll be (and in fact am now) the 6'3" 190lb guy with short blond hair driving a dark blue Ford Ranger.

They call me Chris in the real world.

9:30AM is a good time for me as well. This will be my first beavertail dive and would appreciate a briefing. I'll be bringing two tanks and I'll probably be up for another dive after beavertail (Wetherill or Adams would be a nice second dive).

Just an FYI: I have no idea where my dive flag is so I won't have one for tommorow. Sorry in advance :/

I'll be driving down there in a silver Dodge Ram 1500 with a dive flag sticker on the rear window. I'm not sure where the 3'rd parking lot is so if you see a truck matching that description making circles, please flag me down :)

Have no fear, the parking lots actually have signs with the numbers so you won't have trouble finding it.

I'll also have a flag.

Parking lot # 3 at about 9:30 am. I will be driving a Tan 1997 Ford Escort. I have sent RIOceanographer my cell phone # to contact me if I'm not there on time.

Lets have a safe dive and drive and have a great time.

See all tomorrow (fingers crossed the drive down is good)

It was nice to meet everyone on Sunday! You guys were great group to dive with! And it was nice to finally get to do Beavertail.

I'm glad things worked out well for us. The dives went very good and we covered some nice sea bottom. I'll PM you when our group gets together again. I am eager to dove Ocean Ave near Point Judith -South of Hazard Ave. I hear thats an interesting spot.

Take care

The other Chris
