To give a direct answer according to the TITLE of the note:

No, I wouldn't think a 40 CUBIC INCH pony is excessive in size, since that's a little more than .02 cubic feet. Heck, a Scarce Air is HUGE in comparison!

The Al 40 is an amazing deco bottle. I didn't think it would work at first, but after one dive, I loved them. I have two of them. They are a lot easier to dive with than an OMS 45 or Hieser 50.
