I am going to Socorro islands in March and going to dive with a 7mm full suit for the first time. I dive dry locally and use a 3mm full suit in warmer water. I am thinking of adding 10 lbs to what I use with the 3mm suit to start with. The 2 suits are the same style from the same manufacturer. Does that seem like a good start?

Thanks,

I just went from a 3mm to a 5mm and 4lbs was plenty. I wouldn't think you would need over 8lbs unless your 3mm is an older suit that has lost some boyancy.

Should be 4 lbs

It'll depend upon a lot of stuff.

Why not simply do a local dive in your 7 mm and do a proper weight check before your trip?

I will. I just wanted a starting point for the first dive and go from there.

How many metres of fabric consists your suit.

When I switch from a
7mm with 7/5 hooded vest, 5mm boots and gloves
to a
3/2, no vest, reef booties and no gloves,

I drop a whopping 12 lbs. So your 10# estimate as a starting point is fine by me.
