We had a great time off the Escapade when we were in Monterey a year or so ago. It's a very well-run boat. I love the topographic maps of the sites that Jim has to pass around.

The Cypress Sea has live streaming video of bathymetric images directly under the boat on a monitor for the divers to see.

Wimps and Wusses. Maybe both.

So true. I remember suiting up at Breakwater and a couple approached me about water temps. They both shivered when I told them. Then they replied that they only dive warm water. I told them I'll dive anywhere there's water.

One thing great about Monterey/Carmel diving is when you go somewhere warm and the DM asks you those three questions (how many dives, when was your last dive, where do you normally dive...) and you answer the last one "Monterey and Carmel," they usually go right to the next divers, knowing that they won't have to worry about you.

There's a certain respect that comes with being a cold water diver. :eyebrow:

Sure is!

When I telephoned a dive op on Kauai to schedule my AOW they asked where I'd been certified. When I told them that I'd be certified at the January in Monterey, they immediately responded with an enthusiastic "well. You're going to be great diver, then."

Hey, When are you diving in Kauai?

I'll be there 3/24 thru 3/31... Diving with bubbles below I think...

I'll be there the same week, 22-28. I'll be with Fathom Five, at least for my AOW. One of the other conference-goers will be diving with me sometime with someone. When, where and with whom is still to be determined.

I'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt on Poipu Rd.

You?
