It's a HOG Classic 2nd stage.

So can I confirm if I need to screw the adjustment screw clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Anti-clockwise (counter clockwise in 'Merican)

I used the term "out" because if one were to continue turning the orifice counter clockwise it would come out. At any rate, have a look at this web page TEMP HOG Service Manual 1.64 (1) scroll down until you find a regulator with similar guts and read through the instructions. There is much more detail contained there than I could hope to post here.

Remember to adjust the orifice (item 14 in the above link) with the purge button depressed. If no joy, then you probably need to replace the soft seat (item 12)

Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm just back from Bonaire but I really think my caffine level was fine. Some SPGs and HP hoses (or 1st HP openining) are very slow bleeding air back into the 1st stage where it can be purged. So you hit the purge button and release it when the gas seems to stop flowing. But unless you hold it purged while you unscrew the tank connector, enough pressure can build up to prevent you from turning the connector. Time and another purge or two will correct the problem (or just hold the purge). Like when you breath it on down after the problem occurs. (A 2nd stage is little concerned with whether the tank has 50 bar or 10 bar - both will provide IP.)

I'd have to think about a lever height issue causing such a problem. But I'm pretty sure that if the issue was lever height, breathing performance would be in the toilet well before it created a purging problem.

All,
Thanks for your help. I managed to adjust it so it works again. I was quite surprised that the workable range was quite narrow (within 1/4 turns of the screw). Screw too far in and it freeflows. Too far out and it doesn't purge. (if I remember correctly)

I didn't have any special tools, so I just turned it out 3 turns, assembled everything back, test, disassembled everything, turned it in 1/2 turn, then try again.
