October 8th and 9th


Jacksonville, FL. September 8, 2011 – The Jacksonville Reef Research Team (JRRT) will host a 25th anniversary celebration with a combined scuba dive and Reunion Dinner at Whitey's Fish Camp, Orange Park, FL. The Jacksonville community is invited to attend this benefit celebration for the Jacksonville Reef Research Team. This event will support and fund the JRRT efforts to preserve, protect and educate the community about artificial reef structures.


October 8th, there will be two Reunion Scuba Dive events. One event will take place offshore St. Augustine. This event will be by invitation only. This dive is in memoriam of Jim Powell, an original member who helped create the Jacksonville Reef Research Team. This dive is planned for the area of Jim’s memorial Reef Ball.


A larger group of JRRT members and guests will dive offshore Jacksonville on October 8th. This dive takes place on dive sites that have a special history to the artificial reef program offshore Jacksonville. Divers’ registering prior to September 21 the cost is $80 afterward the charge is $100. All divers must be advanced certified. Divers register for the dive at Divetalking.


October 9th, JRRT Reunion Dinner will be held at Whitey's Fish Camp, in Orange Park, FL. The entertainment for the evening will be slide shows, videos, displays of the JRRT’s history and much more. The dinner will include a $5 raffle for door prizes and a silent auction. We will also have guest speakers. Many JRRT team members and past officers will speak at this event. The speakers will talk about JRRT and how it has evolved over the years, and their vision for the team in the future. There will be an all you can eat seafood buffet dinner for $20 if you register before September 21st; $25 after that date. Register for the dinner at Divetalking.

The planned events will benefit the JRRT mission to preserve, protect and educate the community about artificial reef structures. Please join JRRT celebrate this extraordinary mile stone. About the JRRT: The JRRT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization for 25 years, uses research scuba diving to deploy, monitor, and enhance artificial reefs offshore Northeast Florida. JRRT meetings are held at the Southeast Regional Branch Library at 10599 Deerwood Park Boulevard, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm.
