Hi all
I know that not all of you will be making it to EUROTEK.2016 in two weeks time.
Yesterday I put the raffle tickets on-line so that any diver can buy a ticket.
We have some amazing prizes thanks to the generosity of AP Diving, Fifty Fathoms, Otter Drysuits, Pete Mesley's Lust4Rust, Shearwater Research and Suex scooters.
- A fully loaded AP Diving Inspiration Vision Rebreather
- A trip to Truk Lagoon
- Suex Scooter
- Shearwater Perdix computer
- A bespoke Otter Drysuit
- Limited edition copy of Fifty Fathoms book
Where it the money going this year?
Earlier this year a team led by Associate Professor Simon J Mitchell published a research paper comparing two types of carbon dioxide absorbent, or sorb. (Rebreather Sorb Research Unveiled | X-Ray Mag) This research doesn't sound that sexy, but to advanced and technical divers, it was a very useful piece of safety research. This research was funded by Shearwater Research.
Advanced and tech divers have a lot of questions they need answering. This year the funds raised at the EUROTEK Raffle will be donated to Dr Simon Mitchell (Head of Anaesthesiology, School of Medicine, Auckland University) and Dr Neal W Pollock (Research Associate, Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology, Duke University) for research. Gavin Anthony will oversee the use of the funds.
Their remit is that these monies should be used to fund research specifically for the benefit of the worldwide advanced and tech diving community. This research will be disseminated so that every diver has access to it.
Tickets are GB£5.00 each (approx US$6.50) or you can buy five tickets for GB£20.00 (approx US$26)
