"An air and land search has failed to find any trace of a diver missing off the coast of Sydney.

The 31-year-old man went missing in 71 metres of water about four nautical miles from Bondi Beach.

He was last seen by other divers shortly before 9:30am (AEDT).

Police say a search by Water Police and Surf Rescue has been called abandoned because of poor visibility in the water.

An investigation is under way and police are interviewing witnesses."

" A search was also under way yesterday for a 31-year-old man who went missing while diving off Bondi Beach.

He was diving with friends on a wreck, six kilometres offshore, about 9.20am when he is thought to have fallen ill.

His colleagues surfaced to raise the alarm, but the man disappeared.

A search was conducted by police, surf lifesavers, the Westpac helicopter and the CareFlight helicopter, but was suspended because of poor water visibility."

Admitedly, this is posted to a short comment, and I do not know at all what happened here...
He was diving with friends on a wreck, six kilometres offshore, about 9.20am when he is thought to have fallen ill.

His colleagues surfaced to raise the alarm, but the man disappeared.
But SOP would be for buddy or friends to stay close enough to him, in case he needed help...?

DD, i havent found any info on this since Sunday Oz time and no body recovered as yet either.

yes, with SOP all would have gone well but on the very little i have seen so far, maybe the diver that surfaced was support crew that came up to alert the boat????

i have hubby ringing a few friends that are into deep wrecks to see if they can say anything yet.

i will post here if any other details emerge

71 meters = about 200 feet. Was this a tec dive?
