I was talking to Jenny today after a dive, and we both decided that as far as diving is concerned, 2016 is off to a very good start!
The last couple of months it has been challenging getting good dives in. (OK, I'm gonna skip the dives in BONAIRE with the MANTA and seahorses and frogfish and...) Florida weather has been windy, and seas have been crappy. But a couple of fronts drifted down the peninsula to coincide with New Years, and I've managed 4+ hours under water on two dives in the first 3 days of 2016. The mullet are running, and the schools of Atlantic Spadefish are as curious as ever. The cuda as big as my thigh managed to stay just out of reach. The baby nurse shark was snoozing out in the open on the reef, and if Jenny posts her pix, you'll see that I managed to photo-bomb a guitarfish this morning. The bugs are fat and lazy, but so are the bug hunters, so that's almost a wash. Juvenile flounder are blending in with the sand, and those baby MB colored angels (velvety black with bold yellow markings) are keeping us all fashion conscious. Yup, at this rate, its gonna be a good year!
