You'll only need the light for the cavern and you should also have a small backup light. You can rent one or if you like, you can borrow one or 2 of ours. You'll just need batteries. Let me know.
The USF SCUBA club is planning on attending with 16 members this year. Everyone plans on bringing side dishes and/or some hands to work. I expect everyone in my group to contribute to the this Megadive event. We are planning to pack the minimal amount of tents to make the most out of the space provided. We have divers arriving on Friday and most on Saturday given some of the members have class on Friday still. Please let us know if this sounds okay and if you need any further information. Can't wait for a great spooky Megadive this year!

Sounds good, I'll add you guys to the Attending/food list and work crew when I update it tomorrow! Don't forget costumes if you like and pumpkins if you want to do the underwater carving!
All are welcome for a weekend
of
Diving, Camping and Camaraderie!
We have reservations for the 2015 Fallfest Megadive
Mark your calendars for Oct. 30th - Nov. 1st Marking our 11th Year for the Event!
Come for 1 day or the whole weekend.
All are welcome. This event is open to ALL dive levels, newbie, OW, all the way to full cave certification.
If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there are a bunch of us and there's always someone ready for a dive!
Diving is set at your own pace, when and where you want in between eating and sleeping.
The only dive that is a scheduled dive will be the galaxy dive around dusk on Sat. evening.
As it is a family event, there are plenty of non divers and kids too.
When you get to Ginnie Springs, you'll need to check in the Main Office.
Please tell them your with the ScubaBoard Megadive group as we get a 10% discount on camping and diving!
If you check in on Friday and won't be diving until Sat., go ahead and pay for your diving then and get your wrist bands.
It can get really busy on Sat. and you don't want to waste your time waiting in line again.
Sometimes we do a sunrise dive before the shop opens and you don't want to miss one of the best dives of the day!
We have the whole Turkey Roost area reserved from the road back. Park Map Most of us will be tent camping.
There are separate sites for RV's and I do recommend reserving your spot if you are bringing yours.
Some though do stay in town at the motel, but you'll miss a lot of the fun...
There isn't electricity where we're tent camping, but the are several taps with running water and grills.
There is electricity at the pavilion and bathrooms w/showers are a short walk away.
Don't forget to bring chairs for around the fire and bug spray if the bugs like you. No need to make reservations (unless you're bringing an RV), just sign up on this thread.
Let us know how many are attending in your party
and what you'll be bringing to pitch in for the group dinner and breakfast.
And please, would you be willing to help prepare and clean up for the meals.
If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.
Once a week up until the event, I'll update who's attending, the food list and volunteers.
Check for the latest list for ideas on what to bring and what's still needed.
If your traveling a ways to join us, why not add an extra day or 2 on to make it worth your time. Weather forecast for High Springs, pack accordingly.

For those who always ask what to bring. Here are some ideas... Meat items for the grill(We're trying to keep it simple so it doesn't take forever to cook for the group) (Please keep it to Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken breast and premade items like pulled beef/pork, meatballs and shish kabobs. If you have something else you were thinking about and want to cook that yourself, that's great! Some have brought fryers or smokers and added to the meat items that way.) Don't forget the buns for items like hamburgers and hot dogs.
Eggs(We never seem to have enough.) Items for the omelettes(additional meats, peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives, salsa, wraps, cheese, etc.) Items for Breakfast (Juices, fruit, muffins, coffee, creamer, etc.) Charcoal (self starting) Condiments(cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce etc.) Paper towels and napkins
Heavy duty Paper Plates (no Styrofoam please) and desert plates. Plastic silverware Bottled water Side dishes(casseroles, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, chips and dips/salsa, fruit salad, green salads w/dressing, veggie tray w/dip, etc.) Deserts(Oh please don’t forget the deserts!) Tiki torches and fuel (for around the fire) Fire wood for the camp fire. And a pumpkin if you would like to do an under water pumpkin carving contest during the day on Saturday. Who else is going to have some underwater fun with me Sat around 1:00 at the Turkey Roost Pavilion?:support:umpkin: We'll clean out the pumpkins there and maybe save the seeds for roasting around the fire. Leave the top on land so they don't float away down the river. I print a design ahead of time to transfer to my pumpkin or you can just free draw one. A sharpie helps with that. A drywall saw or serrated steak knife works nice on them underwater with a smaller carving tool for details if needed. Be careful in handling your tools so as not to damage any of your gear or yourself. I usually wrap them in a hand towel for padding to help with transfer in and out of the water. An extra weight to help hold the pumpkin down underwater is great too!
Remember, It's all about having some fun!
