All are welcome for a weekend of diving and camping fun!

We have reservations for the
:D 2013 Fallfest Megadive :D
Mark your calendars for
Nov. 1st - 3rd

Come for 1 day or the whole weekend.

All are welcome. This event is open to all dive levels, newbie OW, all the way to full cave certification. If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there are a bunch of us and there's always someone ready for a dive! Diving is set at your own pace, when and where you want in between eating and sleeping. The only dive that is a scheduled dive will be the galaxy dive around dusk on Sat. evening. As it is a family event, there are plenty of non divers and kids too.

Ginnie Springs has a full service dive shop and a pretty nice little store.
They also rent canoes, kayaks and tubes for use on the river.
Check out their website below for further info, park maps and directions.
Florida Staycation vacation place for scuba diving & Florida ecotourism
Or give them a call at Ginnie Springs Outdoors 1-386-454-7188

When you get to Ginnie Springs, you'll need to check in the Main Office, tell them you are with the ScubaBoard group as we get a 10% discount. If you check in on Friday and won't be diving until Sat., go ahead and pay for your diving then and get your wrist bands. It can get really busy on Sat. and you don't want to waste your time waiting in line again. Sometimes we do a sunrise dive before the shop opens and you don't want to miss one of the best dives of the day!
We have the Turkey Roost area reserved. Most of us will be tent camping. Some though do stay in town at the motel, but you'll miss a lot of the fun...
There isn't electricity where we're camping, but the are several taps with running water and grills. There is electricity at the pavilion
and bathrooms w/showers are a short walk away.
Don't forget to bring chairs for around the fire and bug spray if the bugs like you.
No need to make reservations, but sign up on this thread and let us know how many are attending in your party and what you'll be bringing to pitch in for the group dinner and breakfast or if you would be willing
to help prepare and clean up for the meals.
Once a week up until the event, I'll update the food list, helpers and who's attending.
Check for the latest list for ideas on what to bring and what's still needed.
So come join us for a weekend of Fun!

Here is a rundown of the weekend...

ME EITHER !!!
Hmmm.... 99 cans of beans on the wall...
99 canners of beans. (EEK)

Note: Rivers are high up here due to all of the rain. Ginnie and Manatee are the only two CAVE dive spots open right now.
But that will change , I am sure.

Beano

P.S. There will be one of me coming. THATS ENOUGH !!!

Woot! Count us in!

That "one" is one of our favorites! :D

I'll definitely be there for at least one of the days! I'm taking a cavern class with Bob Henn before then most likely. Cave is a long way off for me I think.

Is the galaxy dive inside the cave system?

The galaxy dive is held in the cavern zone in Ginnie-not the devils system.

The cavern has a light outside, which as a cavern diver is your primary light, so you are not violating standards. However, because the cavern is billed as open water safe, anyone with OW certification is invited to dive. Lights are required by GSO for night dives, we turn them off for about 10 minutes, leaving only a faint glow from the light outside.
