You're in for a treat...especially if you get to cook after the dive! The best time to catch them is at night.

It would be great to meet you guys when you are down here.

ZKY, are you bringing your kayak?

Yep, we all have kayaks and we're bringing them.
We plan on night diving friday and saturday nights.
If this works out good, (I don't see one reason why it wouldn't), I at least will be going down there every year. I just wish more of the Socal crowd would give the North Coast a try.

Nah .... if people down here found out how great it is, the beaches would be overcrowded, the ocean would be overfished and polluted and housing costs would be out of sight. Just keep spreading those rumors about huge surf and bad vis ;)

Can't wait for the Malibu weekend!

Rite on. I'll watch this post to see what you guys are planning. It would be great to paddle out with you guys, if there's room for another in your group.

A group of kayak divers in the Ventura area all head out together on opening night.

I've been heading up to Monterey, but to nowhere north of there. It would be great to join you guys sometime. I'll watch for your posts.

You're absolutely welcome to come down to the campout. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of room left at the site (haven't checked lately but it's supposed to be quiet in October). You could also stop by for the day if you don't want to camp.

If the August campout was anything to go by, believe me, it's going to be a blast. :D

hey...wondering...when are all you peeps planning on arriving on that friday?????? :14:

jondavies - thanks for the camping offer...I live so close I'll probably just hang out and then crash at home.

Are you guys planning to dive at Point Dume?

Hey Jon,
Its getting closer! Looking forward to meeting you. Hope you have some good sites picked out for us.

Hi Dale,

No kidding -- it's just around the corner!

I was comparing notes with Eric the other day and here's what I'm thinking:

I'm getting to the campsite early Friday morning so I can set up my tent and stake out the best location for us. I'll try to be there most of the day to meet and greet people as they arrive.

Friday night we head out for lobsters.... If it's logistically feasible, we can convoy down to Palos Verdes (about 1 hour's drive) where there are a lot of good spots to chose from. Alternatively, we can head out to any of about half a dozen sites in Malibu that should be promising, especially that early in the season.

Saturday morning might be a good time to check out Point Dume or Leo Carrillo state beach and if anyone wants to make a second dive, there's a couple of other good spots that are close by.

I'm planning to bring a bunch of lobsters with me, so even if the conditions aren't favorable for hunting (which is unlikely), Saturday night will be a mega lobster feast!

Looking forward to it!!

Jon

Sounds good! I'll be getting there sometime Friday night. I'm trailer camping( gettin' old, becoming a woos). When I made my reservation, I told them to put me as close to you guys as possible. Look for the big white truck hauling a trailer, that'll be me.
