Luis, the 200 vs 300 is dumb but the air vs Nitrox threads is even dumber.

For awhile after nitrox was first introduced here in the US there was talk of right and left handed threads for air versus nitrox. The idea being that it would prevent divers from filling nitrox tanks with air or from using a nitrox reg on anything other than a nitrox tank. Fortunately it died a quick death.

I suspect the real motivation had more to do with creating a market for dedicated sets of nitrox gear as was the aim of many of the early restrictions and practices with Nitrox after it first found industry acceptance.

Unfortunately, I am not kidding. It is something that is going on in the EU. I do not know the status of it being implemented ... here is one reference that is a bit dated.

After using DIN for years, I decided that I like a good old yoke connection. There is a lot to be said for simple and fairly universal.
