Hmm it appears you are correct. I wonder why the AC rep couldn't find the Sunday Jan 7th (there is availability) return flight from CZM? That would have been a 19day stay, a bit long. 16 days is long enough.

I book on Aeroplan exclusively with points from credit card applications, lcbo and raw spend on credit cards.

I like the cut of your jib, sir. That's how I've been flying my family down for years now. Otherwise, I'd have to go alone. 🤣

Points are nice but I like 2% cash rebates on my credit card better.

At $5000 just in airfare for the 3 of us (in economy of all places!), I'm not sure what we'd do if we had to pay. I have not booked a hotel/airfare package in 15 years. The thought is downright unpleasant. Our very first Coz trip was to the Occidental in '07. the food was horrendous. even did a time share (after we stayed out very late for my wife's 50th) and got a free car rental which we used for decent food! The steakhouse on top of El Cantil was a blast.

My math values points at 2c each so it's equivalent. For example there is the Amex Aeroplan card. zero fee 40,000 points for 5k spend. Just cancel the card after 9months and reapply in 6 months. x the 3 of us applying =120,000 points which got us all to coz in business.

And then there is the Amex Cobalt 5% on groceries..... Which nets me 500,000 Bonvoy points/yr for around $1500 in fees. Lately Bonvoy points are 1.8-2.2c each, especially given we go to the US a lot. I get Marriott stays at 85% off.

Yup, and getting bonus points is much easier and far more readily available vs finding any bonus cash back percentage bonuses. Compared to the sign up bonuses available in the States, sadly we're paupers in Canada by comparison.

That is true. I especially would like the US Bonvoy cards where you can stack the bonus status nights so you can start the year with 30 instead of 15. We just for the first time did a "mattress run" to keep Plat status. Found the cheapest place on points and stayed 2 nights but booked 5 (you only pay for 4 nights).

So, I think we would have (just) made the ferry, getting to PdC around 9:35, but at that point we were happy to stop for the night (home is 2 hours ahead or QRO). There was no diving friday anyway due to the harbour being closed. Customs and immigration was super fast because we were the only plane. I guess it gets busier.

Thanks for letting us know. You managed to beat the odds as it were. Usually if it's not customs it's waiting on a bag (usually for us it's the dive bag which stresses me out the most) or traffic or highway construction or or or... Look on the bright side, you had no stress and will arrive relaxed to start relaxing  Enjoy and please report back on the diving. I need a fix.

Oh yeah - you also look to have missed most of the norte that closed the port for the last several days. Tonight's crossing might have been a roller coaster!

From what I've read on Coz4U is they cancelled the ferry at some point and people missed their flights out CUN entirely. Yikes. I'll have to keep an eye on windguru.

You have no idea but then we go down for the holidays so it's to be expected.

You only have 1? 🤣

We each have a dive bag with a few clothes and cosmetics interspersed within. and a carry on equipment bag with the comp, reg, lights etc.

Is the airport road construction done?
