#18 or #24 Line for SMB?

Which line weight for SMB #18 or #24?
This will be a spool dedicated to an SMB not multipurpose.

Good question. I hope it is not too deep, otherwise wrapping up a spool is tedious. And if it is not too deep, then getting a lot of line on a spool is unnecessary.

Difficult to find locally so I found some on Amazon. #18 Braided Nylon Mason Line. From what I read that is the right type?

The line you have available. Its not really an important property for this application. Either is more than strong enough. A #24 will have more drag and catch more water so you will feel any current slightly more than on a #18, but it would seldom be of any importance.

Typically, just for the 15 foot safety stop. Possibly deeper in the event of an irregularity that ends the dive.
