Y'know, I'm not a rabid enviro-nazi, but it seems that we haven't got the message out to the nondiving world that sharks are:

a) not psycho-killers of the seven seas
b) endangered
c) not very good eating, so not great game fish.

This little news story popped up on CNN yesterday, and I thought it depressing, if only because it seemed so banal...

The Associated Press: Boy, 12, Reels in 551-Pound Bull Shark

12-Year Old Catches 551 Pound Bull Shark | January 3, 2008 | AHN

WWSB ABC 7 Florida - Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, North Port, Siesta Key Breaking News, Weather, Sports and Traffic on the Suncoast | Boy's catch challenges state record for biggest bull shark

I guess I'd just rather look at them while diving than kill them.

The boy wanted revenge on the shark because it kept eating his fish...:shakehead::shakehead:Not bright... But he is young... But the worst thing is all the adults glorifying the act.:shakehead:!!!

Pitifull...

I hunt, I fish. I think if you catch it you eat it! Revenge on a shark for eating! :lotsalove:

So what will happen to this shark... chum, or maybe they will just bury it. I have an issue with that.

I'm sure it was a thrilling day for the kid, and his mom. Less so for the shark.
