No surfing for us, but we rented a car and drove down to Teahupoo on August 18th to watch the Billabong International Surfing Competition, only to find it was cancelled for lack of waves. I would really have been pissed off at Viator for not notifying us the competition was cancelled for the day until one hour before our tour boat ride out to the breakers, but it is hard to stay angry driving around the beautiful island. Besides, we are older, and don't bounce as well as we used to, so a surfing lesson will not be found on our list of things to do in Tahiti.
