Exceeding the NDL during recreation diving

Hello, I am a recreational diver with an AOW license and I use a Garmin Descent 3. I can't understand the difference between using a medium conservatism profile, going beyond the NDL limits but ascending slowly, following the computer's instructions—in essence, the decompression happens during...

Unbalanced regulator for high O2 deco mixes

I need to get an O2 clean regulator for deco BO mixes with high O2 that will be used in the 3-12 m | 10-40 ft range. Does it matter if the first is balanced given these depths? I am condemning Dive Rite FT1 (FT1 First Stage - Dive Rite) which is balanced and costs ~470$ vs Dive Rite O2 regulator...

How does AluS080 11.1 ltr for deco/stage tanks sound?

Searched a bit but couldn't find the exact answer in the existing topics, so here comes my question: I have four 12 liter 232 bar steel tanks for my SM and Twinset dives, which I normally do in cold waters of Stockholm, Sweden. Now I'm looking to buy 1 or 2 aluminum tanks to use as stage /...

    Best Digital Dive Planner

While reading a recent thread on dive planning using tables vs computers I noticed a few divers throwing out digital app based dive planners or homemade smart sheets they use for basic deco dives to more complex multi gas deep dives. I’m hoping this will become the thread where everyone shares...

    Riding deco ceiling on ascent

I recently had a look at a friend's Suunto D5 user manual and was very surprised to see this statement: NOTE: It is always recommended to keep close to the decompression ceiling when ascending. In fact, the depth -- labeled "Stop" on the main screen -- seems to be identically the ceiling value...

Closed WTB Ended - Bailout/Stage Reg Set for Pony Bottle

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a bailout/deco reg set that will first see use on a pony bottle, then maybe on a stage cylinder later. If beggars can be choosers, I'd like something environmentally sealed and diaphragm (or Poseidon haha). Something like DGX, Dive Rite, ScubaPro, etc. It's fine...

Closed 2 Dive Rite O2/Deco regs $175 each or $300 for both (ships free)

2 Dive Rite O2/Deco regs. Both worked flawlessly when last used. HOWEVER, I RECOMMEND HAVING ANY LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT EXAMINED/SERVICED BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN BEFORE USE. First reg: RG5400 as pictured. Only used on 100% and 50% O2. This reg has less than 15 dives on it. Last dove it a year...

Deco regulator - left vs right hose inlet

Hi all For a deco cylinder on the left side. What are peoples thoughts about using a regulator with a standard (right) hose inlet vs a left hose inlet (shorter hose and not going around the neck)?

Problem trimming out with two deco tanks

I have a upcoming Trimix course in September so I’m practicing diving with two deco tanks. Before this I used to carry either an AL80 or AL40 for deco, which I hardly notice through the whole dive. I like the idea m carrying both tanks on my left. However, I had some trouble with my trim with...

Computer + Plan or 2 Computers for Deco Diving

Hi all For deco dives, do you 1. Have one deco/tech computer then a gauge/timer and prewritten dive plan? 2. Use two deco/tech computers If option 1: Do you use the prewritten plan or the computer, as your primary means of following a decompression profile? Do you have the written plan on a...

    GUE lost deco bottle procedure

Hi, I would like to understand how the GUE procedure works when one team members has lost his deco bottle and it is time to perform deco. As I understand, teammates then share their deco bottle with the diver who lost his deco bottle, but I am not clear as to how this is done. Let's say you need...

    No deco time proximity.

I am having a long time discussion with a buddy about the no deco time shown in a computer. How close can you get to the zero time while diving, without risking too much. Some opinions are to go up when you reach the 10 min mark, some consider the 5 minute mark.
