    Cold feet during surface interval

Hello divers! Air temperatures are dropping bellow 0 °C/32 °F these days, there can be ice and snow on the land. I don't have any problems with cold feet in the water (which is about 6 °C/43 °F) - I can do first dive 50-60 minutes without any problem. However, I cannot stand the cold during...

Storing steel tanks in sub zero garage

I've searched a couple threads but not really found any great answers: can I store my full (~2000PSI) steel tanks in a 0° or below garage in the winter? I see plenty of threads about not storing your full tanks in the sun/heat... but not the other way around. I would think the only risk is to...

    EN250 Rating

I see that my Signature Series First Stage is certified to the EN250 standard, rather than EN250A. Based on that, is it correct to assume that I should be getting myself a second first stage and using an H-valve or learning to dive doubles if I want to dive in cold and/or deep water?

    Cold and Airflow Sensitive Sinuses

This isn't strictly diving related, but it affects long surface swims... I've developed a weird problem with only my left sinuses. Cold air and rapid airflow through my left nostril causes strong discomfort from mid-nasal down to the top of the left palate. The sensation is like breathing in...

The first dive was something of a nightmare, with none of the tourist divers following proper buddy procedures and one displaying very poor buoyancy...

Thermal Protection, over estimate the need?

Baseline Story: This weekend we all under estimated our need for thermal protection and it eventually cost us our planned third dive. Longer version: In November, we dove a local spring fed quarry. It was cold, but we all wore hoods and the biggest annoyances were the impaired hearing at the...

Leaving gear in a cold car

Hi all I want to go diving after work and leave my gear in the car during the day. The weather is between 10-20degF. Should all of the gear (BCD, Regs, etc..) be fine being left in those temperatures? Note:The gear will have time to warm up while I drive (about an hour) to the dive site.

    Semi-dry in Galapagos

I'm going to Galapagos in April and doing 20 dives. I'm reaching out to other women out who may have circulation issues and get extremely cold. I have a dry suit but have concerns about taking it on such a trip because I have had seals break unexpectedly and I'm afraid if that happened I would...
