Your Favorite Cave Dive In Florida

I'm kind of surprised Indian wasn't the unanimous decision here.

Bad News From Santa Rosa Blue Hole

I try to stay out of accident analysis threads on scubaboard because a wide variety of experience and diving knowledge comment on them, leaving the audience with questionable information. It's sad because the tech diving sections have more discussion than cave diver forum and thedecostop do...

Does this mean a collapse, or did be remove gear to get to where he passed away?

Bad News From Santa Rosa Blue Hole

Was the deceased on CCR? Did the CCR fail, or did the deceased expire the scrubber searching for an exit, or pass while still on a working loop?

The Cave Politics, Rumor Monger and Gossip Guild is alive and well. Let's end it!

Remember when people called Jim out about the Shannon incident directly? Jim posted his side of the story and I never heard another peep about it. Pete, why not list the names? The number one way to attack gossip is to attack it head on.

What types of things are written on a line cookie?

This is going back several years, but basically the Ginnie line committee made a knee jerk change to a death and replaced all the existing gold line out beyond the Heinkle with white line. During this, they left a slate that said no DPV's beyond this point. This was completely unenforceable...

What types of things are written on a line cookie?

Usually nothing other than name. When Ginnie had a blow up doll at the Heinkle however, all sorts of funny things were written on a slate and arrows/cookies near there.

    Primary reel

The Halcyon reel that I have has the end of the screw smashed in a tiny bit so that it cannot come out of the reel. I assume you could do that to nearly any reel if you can take the center spool out.

    GUE IE classes

I took Fundies with Meredith Tanguay and Daniel Riordan was there as an IE. Meredith taught the course, and Danny sat in the back and watched. Most of their consulting was done one on one away from us, but occasionally if we struggled to get something with Meredith's teaching, Danny would...

    Cavern dive instructor recommendations

Umm, Ginnie's ballroom is beat to snot. Look through the grate and you'll notice that it's a completely different color than the accessable part. Hi, I'm James. Nice to meet you. I took cavern < 1 year after my scuba class with just OW back in 1999. It was with the NACD president and signed...

    Cavern dive instructor recommendations

Of course sloppy performance is allowed at lower levels. A cavern class is TWO DAYS and is supposedly teaching kicks and proper buoyancy as well as overhead skills, and more lecture material than any other overhead course. For reference, GUE Fundies is 4-5 days and only covers buoyancy, trim...

    Cavern dive instructor recommendations

I applied for life insurance through my financial adviser. No questions were asked on paper about scuba diving, but I did have to check yes to flying on non scheduled flights as I had flown a couple of times on re-positioning flights and certification flights when I worked at an airline, as...

    Cavern dive instructor recommendations

Heather Armstrong and Dan Patterson are both solid instructors. I hate seeing people take cavern though. In Mexico there's a lot to see, in Florida it's very limiting. Because it's limiting and I believe you learn faster with 4 days of instruction, I would always suggest taking Cavern + Intro...

Looking for recomendations for thermal protection-High Springs, Fl

8 months is an eternity to learn a dry suit. Doug and Mer both offer dry suit classes over a weekend, if I were you I would contact them pre fundies to take one if you're struggling on your own. I cannot imagine taking fundies in a wet suit. When I worked in a corporate training center, we...

GUE Cave 2 and Tech 1

Couldn't you show your T1 card which was taught using 50% at the 70ft stop and then show your Cave 2 card at the 20ft stop which covered 100% o2? This is, or course the scuba police are present :DIn all seriousness this seems like NBD. If you know how to calculate minimum deco gas from both T1...

TSandM: Missing Diver in Clallam County, WA

I don't know why they chose this specific dive-- what good would diving easy sites do that her previous 1200+ dives did not? I dove with Lynne in current so fast that I had to grab a hold of a wreck to stay on it, so this wasn't her first rodeo in current.

    NACD By-Law Committee

Does this committee have to sign a NDA? While you state that the BOD will be at arms length, if the committee and BOD ever butt heads, you can essentially throw a lawsuit at anyone who speaks out to the membership about a disagreement.
