Replacement CQR Weight Pouch for Sherwood Avid

Lost on of my BC weight pouches and looking to buy a replacement. Bought the unit from Leisure Pro but they only sell a replacement that holds 8lbs which I guess is an older version since mine says 10lbs max right on it - Anyone had experience with buying a replacement or am I the only idiot...

when a wreck becomes a gravesite?

As far as U-Boats I think we should extend Germany the same protection we expect from our sunken naval vessels. We are hypocrites if we don't. Also, as far as I'm concerned more attention should be paid to classifying wrecks as protected historic sites. As a fairly new diver I look...

    Mares M1 Wrist Comp

Scuba Diver magazine gave it a Tester's Choice designation I think. Although they said it's the same basic unit as the Dacor which is cheaper and as better graphics on the screen.

    kayak wheels

If it was just a beach then the commercially available wheels would work fine, but if your talking rough trails definately just portage it. If you have a buddy then it shouldn't be a problem even for two kayaks. Strap on the gear and use the lanyards on each end to carry it.

Whats the most worthless thing an LDS has tried or sold to you?

Fins for my open water that I could have got for half the price online. They also told me my 20 year old Dacor mask and snorkel (bought at a Nags Head dive shop in my youth) was useless because it was made of gasp, neoprene rubber. Well I stood firm and it work great for the class and since...

External rust, stripping & painting steel tanks

I'd paint them bright yellow so if you die it will be easier to find the corpse. No really, I don't think there is anything wrong with painting the tanks if you feel like it and have some time and money to burn. If so use a one or two part polyurethane paint. You can get this stuff from...

Have any of you guys ever shot a real gun underwater, or as shark repellent?

It sounds like everyone is armed to the teeth. Isn't shooting a gun underwater just like when the astronauts fired one on the moon and then had to plot it's trajectory for the next several missions. I mean, what's the point? The one place I thought I was safe from all the street...

How do I improve my air consumption?

I've had the same problem. I'm a big guy 6'3" 210lbs so I'd like to think I just have big lungs but I would go through air twice as fast as the rest of my open water class. I think I am pretty fit for my age but I guess I probably need like three tanks or something.

    Zip ties...differences?

Boy this is a dumb question. It's not like it's really going to make a whole lot of difference. I mean I wouldn't use them to connect the anchor to the boat. ::   :: :   :

Rigging a small boat for diving

I totally agree - an RIB is a completely different animal than what the originator of this thread was talking about. RIB generally have almost double the reserve buoancy of even a fiberglass boat with foam core. The fiberglass boat might not sink but it probably would capsize or at the least...

Inflatable Diving Boat - which motor Should I go with - 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke?

2 - Strokes are still considered to be much less problematic in the repair department than 4-strokes. Also, the weight is a big factor. If you plan to use the boat and motor outside the continental US you can forget about ever getting parts to repair your 4-stroke. 2- strokes are much cheaper...

Rigging a small boat for diving

First off, whoever said to set two anchor lines - a bow and a stern - totally disregard that unless your diving on a small pond. Setting a stern anchor, especially on a power boat (ie planing hull) offshore you might as well send out the sos before you dive - a change in the wind/wave direction...

    Choosing an Octo

I know there is a Scuba Pro and Apex bias on this site but I like the Mares Axis Octo I have. It breathes easy - it's easy to purge and nice and big. Plus I think I only paid around $60 or 70 for it from Leisure Pro
