    Accident at Cave Excursions

Luxfer just updated their news release. The major point seems to be that the tank is a 6061 alloy. Luxfer news link August 23, 2004 — Investigators continue to believe that the July 27, 2004 incident in Luraville, Florida was caused when an operator was about to fill oxygen into a...

from what Luxfer says if you call them, the lifetime warranty was put out under US Divers (not Luxfer) and is still honored! Doesn't sound like a screw job to me.

Would you consider buying a used tank?

Redshoerider, Theoretically, you can use scbas for diving (although more than likely the threads are different, so you would need a special valve). However, DOT has not approved them for use as dive tanks, so getting a fill would be difficult. Looks like it took Luxfer 4 or 5 years to get...

Would you consider buying a used tank?

That would mean aluminum tanks have a life of about 1,000 fills or just about a fill every day for three years. I think your figures are misleading in that a properly cared for and filled aluminum tank should cycle 100,000 times before failure. Not sure what your beef is against aluminum...

Information about the Luxfer recall / exchange 6351 alloy

...detracts from this $50. Looking at some of the threads here, it seems that the dive shops who refuse to fill these old tanks (even though they are fit for use) may become even more stingy as time goes on. Maybe the $50 is better than keeping an un-fillable tank around.:hour:

Information about the Luxfer recall / exchange 6351 alloy

After surfing Luxfer's website yesterday I found news item for 2003 about a $50 voucher in exchange for any 6351 scuba tank starting in 2003. http://www.luxfercylinders.com/news/releases/20021022.shtml My question is this worth it for the average diver with an old tank? I would guess I...

    who is diving and where

This sounds like a great place to check out. I'm hoping to finish my certification shortly and wondering if Shaw's cove is good for a novice diver? Are there group dives that go out of Laguna and if so, how do I contact them?

    New to the sport

Hello everyone. I stumbled on these boards via google and have really enjoyed reading the comments and opinions. From my handle, some of you may able to tell I've traded in my former hobby of classic Corvettes (427HEVN was my plate), for something a little more active. I'm taking it slow as...
