Does diving while on period attract sharks?

Sharks generally aren't super interested in human blood. Fish blood is a different story...

Tipping / Gratuity on LDS Organized Trip

Been on a few with our LDS. They always provide a trip packet with some helpful tips regarding what to bring, what not to bring, local customs, rules, etc. Part of that involves tipping, they'll provide a range, indicate currency, and any other info we need to know. For example for our last...

Beautiful footage, wondering where you saw the Tigers. Did you go far south, or was that the central atolls? Thanks!

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

I am sure you are technically correct, and I am glad DAN is stepping up and changing their policies. As for me, I am generally not the type to put my life in the hands of insurance companies, even if I like the insurance company. The problems with the credit cards are therefore the thing that...

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

Interesting thread, I am kind of on this page. I would certainly call Dan for their advice, or with a question (and have), but if I know that I am injured, I am doing what I need to do to get help on my own, and think about the insurance as an after thought. The most disturbing part of this...

    Bare 3mm vs 5mm Sizing

Hello, I currently have a 3mm Bare Reactive wetsuit, size ML, which I really like. From a sizing perspective, I am right in between an M and and ML. I went with the ML as in general I like my wetsuits a little roomier, knowing I am giving up some warmth. In a couple weeks, however, we are...

Has anyone purchased a Nautilus Lifeline lately?

Yeah, its not ideal, but it is some protection.. Doing a lot of hemming an hawing about my options here to be honest. Also thinking about a Garmin Inreach, which isn't perfect, but we can take that hiking. Cons there are that it also isn't a PLB, and it has more added expense, but, it does...

Has anyone purchased a Nautilus Lifeline lately?

Hello, wife and I are looking at getting some sort of PLB type device, and specifically looking at the Nautilus Lifeline. The price is right, no subscription, no separate case, etc Our pause is the reviews, which make it sound like there is a real issue with quality control. Lots of...

    Why the wait to fly?

Hello, I was watching the Mbars change on my Teric on the plane on the way home from my last dive vacation, and have a question... The pressure change, according to my Teric when I am flying goes from ~1K Mbars, to about 800... That change takes a while to happen on the plane, as pressure...

    Do you tip your instructor?

I was thinking I was done with this thread, but am genuinely curious. I certainly appreciate you love your job, that's the dream. However, when you are staying at a dive resort or hotel, do you think the person that comes in to clean your room does it because they love their job, and they get...

    Do you tip your instructor?

I suppose you either think incentives matter, or you don't. I truly wish they didn't, and that people would work just as hard for a stranger as they would for their family, with out any incentive to motivate them. It would be a lovely world. That's not the world in which we live, or anyone...

    Do you tip your instructor?

No, broadly, I think its a complicated topic, and the issue of wealth disparity is a real one, and the causes are diverse. I also think it threatens the overall stability of our society. That said, narrowly, people who work hard, are skilled, and take risks, are generally going to do better...

    Do you tip your instructor?

Yes, that is exactly the point. I prefer people providing service to me, to be pleasant, and I am willing to pay to reward and encourage that. If you are an unpleasant person, perhaps service isn't the proper field for you. There are lots of professions that don't involve personal...

    Do you tip your instructor?

I don't recall tipping my dive instructor, but always tip dive guides/boats. Really appreciate folks who go the extra mile to provide exceptional service, and I like to reward them for doing so.
