    sidemounting steel bottles

Aluminum get even more top heavy (or “bottom floaty”, really) as they get empty, so that will hardly fix your issue. Tank placement is something you’ll have to fidget with either way, and the principles apply to both. ETA: I didn’t understand your question or comment on moving the tank around...

    sidemounting steel bottles

Moving the snap means moving the tank band up. Since the anchor point (d ring) is the same, this will move the top (heaviest part) of your tank down, moving some top weight closer to the center of you body.

    Basic gear from mid-twentieth-century Argentina

A little extra trivia, since you are including translations: - “Plaf” is an onomatopoeia used for something hitting the water in older comics in Spanish, like “splash!” would be used in English. - “Narigoma” is a portmanteau mixing the Spanish words for “nose” and “rubber” Thanks for sharing!!!

What types of things are written on a line cookie?

I write my initials, and I number them. Helps me keep track of navigational cues.

Cozumel Dive Ops - Five Star IDCs vs Forum Recommendations

Where in the Yucatán Peninsula will you be staying? If you are around the Playa-Tulum area, I recommend people go with a smaller shop that is focused on cenote and cave training, even if that is not what you are interested in. You’ll do much better for instruction than with one of the large ops...

Seaskin recommends the elasticated back panel for anyone whose hips are much wider than their waist. They have the difference in cm in the website description. The suit needs to be wide enough to pass over your hips so if your waist is much thinner you’ll have extra fabric in the mid section...

Divers and non divers Riviera Maya

Without crossing over to Cozumel, your cheapest shot at a nice snorkeling trip is in Puerto Morelos. Plenty of folks offer tours at the pier, or you can check in with one of the scuba shops a bit further down the beach (the folks at Wet Set are friendly to non-divers, but you'll probably do okay...

we're all friends here... let's talk p valves and sensitive bits...

Does anyone have experience with O’Three’s “Advanced P Valve”? Specifically known issues with it, cautionary tales, things like that. I’m considering their trilam suit but they will only fit their own valve, and I haven’t really found any reviews online.

Regarding neck seals: Does anyone favor non-replaceable neoprene neck seals over the Quick Neck system? How costly is it to install the QN after the fact? Is it possible to remove the QN and install a fixed seal after the fact @stuartv you mentioned adding a QB on your ultra through SS in the...

To goodman or not to goodman, that is the question

I like the Razor system, the hand mount and the helmet mount. Easy to move the light from the hand to the head and back. I still have a boltsnap on the light’s head to clip it off a d-ring if needed. I really like the ability to go back and forth between hand and helmet, though, and mostly just...

    Line Markers and You!

I keep the pig tail either on my butt or my left shoulder d-ring, depending on how often I’m using them and whether I’ll be passing any restrictions close to the line. I usually keep a cookie or two on my slate’s bungee as well, on my arm.

Hi all. Answers seem to be divided on the allowance for thicker undergarments. I'm hoping you can help with the following: This option does not seem common for other dry-suit brands. Others do, however, offer the opposite in a "cave cut," tighter fit. Does this mean the normal Nova cut is...

    Unknown Cozumel: Horrible dive accident...

That is what the FB post linked before says. “Tourist service boat (NOT a dive boat) found a drowned person at sea wearing divers gear and called the authorities”. If that is true, then the boats the OP saw were just waiting for the authorities to arrive and were not involved in the accident.

DIR- GUE Adjust weighing for stage bottles?

Using 1/2 (or 1/2+200) and leaving more in your bg also leaves you with more to recalculate and visit other lines on your way back without carrying the stage each time, so it is more comfortable even if nothing goes wrong.

"Non-Economy" Dive Trip - What would your best trip look like?

The further away you get from Quintana Roo, the better the food - at any price range. As for Coz, I haven’t been to the caves in the island. I’d be interested in checking them out, seeing how they are different from the ones under the main land. If we have to stick to the sea, then my only...
