RNLI all-weather lifeboat rescues unresponsive diver - Wales

Ever since I was a young child, I’ve been in awe of the RNLI and always felt a swell of pride when I’d see the lifeboats out and about. To get a feel for the heroism and dedication of the volunteer crews, I’d thoroughly recommend watching the documentary of the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster. I’m...

Buoyancy Issue - When Hovering Rolling to the Right

One other point as you’re using a steel cylinder; make sure the BC is a close fit and the cylinder itself doesn’t flop around. Try to picture the cylinder being perfectly inline with your spine and only move on that axis. You’ll quickly get used to that fine sweet spot of being perfectly...

    Commercial Diving Trailer

Nice spread! We’ve found the trailer spread to be more versatile than a fixed chassis, particularly for craning the complete unit onto a barge or platform.

Buoyancy Issue - When Hovering Rolling to the Right

Do you have any air in your BC? If so, it may be that it’s migrating more to the left. Try hovering again and if you still roll to the right, temporarily roll left, then back to centre to see if it corrects. You may even hear air burping in your BC as it moves. If not, then there must be a...

    Garmin Descent MK2

Superb! :thumb: Thanks for posting this in video format. So much more relatable than an image or review. Even with my dodgy middle aged eyes, I reckon I can see that no problem. As a dive computer It would only be a backup for my Perdix anyway, so I won’t really need any more data on main screen.

    Garmin Descent MK2

Thanks. Maybe a silly question, but do you know if deco ceiling and stop time also show in Big Number format. Obviously screen real estate will be restricted, but I assume it just replaces NDL. Ta

Following for exactly the same reason. I’d love to see a photo of the screen in Big Number format if anyone has one. Can’t seem to find anything online.

Question Equipment for Full Cave Course in Mexico

Gonna stop in at 5th Ave and buy a knockoff card. Thinking Peak Performance Beer Drinking cert should cover the pre-requisites.

Question Equipment for Full Cave Course in Mexico

Well folks, I’m finally flying out tomorrow for 2 weeks for my Cave course with Protec. Looking forward to it, apart from the 10.5 hr flight, Cancun airport and jet lag that is! We’re staying in a budget hotel right above Protec, which is handy (junction of 30th / 4th Calle). Anywhere you...

    Failed CESA in OW

Just as a matter of interest, do you remember how much weight you used? Most instructors can make a reasonable estimate, but still no substitute for a properly weight check. I prefer to estimate a couple of kgs less than I think a student needs, then take time doing a proper weight check...

Membrane drysuits for hard use - what do people recommend?

Doing this to my delicate trilam would give me nightmares

Membrane drysuits for hard use - what do people recommend?

+1 for a crushed neoprene suit. I use an OThree Ri200 for Commercial work and an FE Argonaut for recreational / Tech. A trilam drysuit wouldn’t last a day on a gnarly commercial job. The crushed neoprene will also offer you more protection against say heavy pile marine growth in a surge.

    Question Accountability situation Malta

I’ve dived in Malta quite a few times, the last being a weeks dive trip around the mainland, Gozo and Comino about 18 months ago. Malta is a very popular European dive destination and heavily promoted as such by the Maltese government. During our last trip, fresh out of Covid, we received huge...

DIR- GUE Why are non-GUE divers so interested in what GUE does?

I don’t have a dog in this fight but, for what it’s worth, Ginti’s comments project a very well rounded and considered view of his experiences with GUE. Exactly the outlook that reflects well on an organisation, not a polarised view from fringe advocates or detractors.
