Post Your Pretty Funny Stuff Here

A Testimony To True Friendship A man brings his best mate home for dinner unannounced at 5.30 pm after work. His wife screams at him as his friend listens in, "My hair & makeup are not done, the house is a mess, the dishes are not done, I'm still in my pyjamas, and I can't be bothered with...

    Diving Iceland in Feb.

I did the Silfra dive in March last year with Dive.IS. Very slick operation. I did not have my dry suit card at that stage (pool session done, but adverse weather resulkted i9n cancellation of planned open water dives). Dive.IS requirement was for open water only. No requirement for dry suit...

Mother Superior was taking a bath. There's a knock on the door. She says, "Who is it?" A male voice responds, "The blind man." After a few moments of deliberation the nun says, "Come in." The man enters and says, "Nice tits, Mrs Nun. Where do you want me to hang the blind?"

    Scuba equipment rentals

Hi teecup I think it probably depends upon where you live relative to where you will be diving. I am now at 115 dives, most of which has been on holidays from the UK to (normally) warmer waters with a non-diving spouse. Experience includes 3 trips to Greece, 2 trips to Turkey, 1 trip to Iceland...

    What constitutes a dive?

For what its worth, I record pool dives if I have learned something from them, but do not include them in the cumulative total. Typed on a keyboard, so all spelling mistakes are my own.

    New gear and emergencies

I was trained that, if your buddy is functional enough to give the OOA signal, you move both arms back and out of the way so that they can access your spare air (which they can see)

Tell me about a dive log.

So far I have been asked in Greece, Turkey, Mallorca, Red Sea (Dahab and Abu Suma) and Mauritius. I have a non-diving spouse so mostly stay in resort hotels where diving is very much a minority activity organised through third party contractors. I was in Rhodes in June where the hotel used a UK...

Tell me about a dive log.

I do a mixture of tourist diving in warm salt water and keeping up progress with the dive count in cold murky fresh water here in the UK My experience is that the diver operators that I use when I go abroad like to have a quick flick through my log book to get a sense of how I might perform in...

Diving the El Bells & Blue Hole (Red Sea)

Like Krazyklaws, I always enjoy Islands. My favorite dive in Dahab. Last time I was there, I nearly lost a hand when the guide grabbed my camera, which was secured to my wrist, and took off at high speed to get pictures of the Eagle Ray that had appeared over the top of the coral. Fantastic.

Where to go now? Travelling from the u.k.

I haven't been, but I have considered Aqaba in Jordan. Pricing looks similar to Sharm / Dahab - with the added bonus of the possibility of a trip to Petra to keep my non-diving spouse happy.

    Best Diving in Mallorca

I was in Mallorca last October. Did a couple of boat dives out of Calla Milor / Cala Bona in the west of the Island. My impression was that it was very like most of the dives that I have done elsewhere in the mediteranean - mostly fished out and the main interest is geological Unable to speak...

    Warm water diving - finally!

Just back from Rhodes (last week). Diving in a 5mm wet suit. No issues with cold dowm to 20m. My memory is that in summer you are only going to have thermoclines from any fresh water run-off after a storm. Generally fished out, but saw a school of Jacks at the Pilimri wreck. On the dry suit...

    Water in BCD

Little bit concerned about the discussion about the effect of having water in a tank. Hopefully this is just a theoretical exercise. Personally, if I know that a tank has water in it, I do not want it strapped to my back! John

    Dry suit course failure

I know what it is like to qualify in warm clear water and then come back to diving in the UK. I was fortunate enough to be able to get over 30 dives before the transition, so at least had the start of a grip on the basic skills. I dive with Oxford Dive Centre, going down to Vobster Quay near...

Wetsuit vs Drysuit while in Cold Water

My first experience with a dry suit (outside of a pool) was Lake Silfra in Iceland in March 2012. Organised tour. All the equipment provided by the dive shop with fleece over garment that I wore over skiing base garments. Water was 35 / 37 degrees. Snow falling when we surfaced after the first...

Contact lenses and diving -Questions Welcome - by Idocsteve

I always use a previous prescription of contact lenses when diving. Not 20/20 vision, but good enough and no worries about losing them if my mask was to come off. John

Contact lenses and diving -Questions Welcome - by Idocsteve

As a contact lens wearer, I would have thought that the action of blinking would clear any condensation. If not, might it suggest that whatever is condensing is more than just water vapour? John

Why can't people (me) just make up their mind, already.

I know it does not answer the question (I don't have enough experience to comment on computers), but I have just been introduced to teh wonderful world of varifocal contact lenses. This has reopened a whole world of being able to both read fine print and be able to see enough to drive without...
