A fiberglass hull made over a suitable form isn't difficult... The challenge is predicting the strength.
That said, it wouldn't be difficult to make a hull, plug it and drop it to some depth well below your planned max depth to test the strength.
I would have to go look up how thick the...
@Eric Sedletzky
I apparently can't DM you... But I'm planning on being there, just need to figure out how to return a rental wetsuit to Seal's when they are closed on sundays and I'm heading back to SF before they open on monday.
😂
Oh I'm sorry? Did they start using 440C for backplates?
Did China change the generally accepted composition of 304 and made it something that doesn't machine like the devils toffee?
Guess I'll have to quit my day job now!
20 mins with a couple of files remains my advice.
Stainless is soft, but not as soft as Alu.
Personally I'd go at it with a round file, maybe a half round on the bigger edges.
I always end up scratching stuff with the Dremel. If you just need to smooth out the edges a good file is plenty.
I just got a couple of the high SPF shirts for <$30 on Amazon.
They work just fine. Biggest challenge is finding ones without camo or 'tribal' graphics.
I'm 6' and 205lbs, in the Caribbean I'm wearing stuff for skin protection, not warmth.
But then I grew up swimming in the North Sea, which is...
Has anyone compared the foot pocket to Force fins?
I find most fins uncomfortable but the open toe pocket is not only very comfortable but actually fits so well I barely need straps.
Looks like a #4 x 1/2".
Take the parts to your local hardware store (assuming they have those big banks of drawers full of every screw) and check the fit. They usually have stainless.
I'm curious to see if the head fits.
Only if you are soft. Some of us dive without gloves up here.
Although I wear a hood, I'm not insane.
People wonder why houses in SF are so expensive... when its 75 in SF and 108 in San Jose.
We had a heatwave so bad I had to open a window last year.
Hopefully the results from Tankers Reef will lead to a general permission to smash as many urchins as you can. From a bio-mass perspective it makes a lot more sense than trying to remove them.
I'm up in Sonoma fairly regularly, maybe I'll have to drive over to the coast one weekend. The family...
Were I less experienced I would be clamoring to take on the Kraken.
However I've developed products, supported them and all that jazz.
So I have some idea of the work involved.
I could see a model similar to some Kickstarter products, where it's all batch production. But it's still going to be...
An affordable bio-compatible resin launched recently, just be aware that any cross-contamination must be prevented.
We have an anycubic, I'm impressed considering the price. The Form3 is absolutely better, but it's nearly 5 times the price.
Otherwise it's Formlabs Bio-compatible and that stuff...
If you are using multiple transmitters the Swift might be better.
The Swift casing design is however terrible, with 3 tiny screws that are just begging to be lost.
I personally won't get one for that reason.
Plus I already have a PPS transmitter and those seem to last forever.
Google casting PDMS in SLA molds.
We do it routinely at work and it produces excellent results.
There are lots of silicones that work, for the best results you also need a vacuum chamber.
Two or even three part molds are not difficult.
