    Dive Operator St. Croix

My wife and I are looking at extending a dive trip to the Bahamas and checking out St. Croix. Our needs are a bit different than some folks. We have cameras, we're advanced divers (lived on Bonaire for four years, she has 800 dives, I'm working on 1000). We like small outfits that might be more...

    Blue Force 3

We will be diving on the Blue Force 3 in the Maldives in January 2024. It's getting to be time to request bigger tanks if we want them. We've been diving with a lot of operations and on a few liveaboards and everyone seems to do it differently. In Fiji most of the dives were 40 minutes because...

    Scubapro G2

I love my G2 but it’s dying. I get the impression that they may be phasing them out, which I guess doesn’t matter to me if the next one lasts 6 or 7 years. So, are they dinosaurs now? Some sites have them listed as discontinued. I really don’t want a computer that makes navigating the menus...

    Bringing Camera Gear

I have heard that other places in Mexico, specifically the Baja, were "taxing" cameras they deemed to be professional level. I don't quite have one like that but it's a housing on a tray with float arms and strobes. Any issued I should be aware of at the Cozumel airport next week?

    Aldora Divers

My wife and I had a great experience with Aldora Divers and stayed at Aldora Villas a few year ago. We might be interested in dropping down to Cozumel to get some diving in this summer. It sounds like the dive operation is the same as it has been with longer dives expected etc. I had heard the...

Question Red focus light for night dive photos.

I have been shooting UW photos for a few years now. My setup is the Olympus EPL 10 in an AOI housing and two Inon S2000 strobes. I have a Kraken Hydra 1200. I've used in on a few dives and maybe 300 shots so far. I might be doing something wrong but when it's on and I'm trying to find and focus...

Diver fatality Bonaire. Translation button on upper left.

As usual there is little information in the article. From a Facebook post another group of divers nearby saw CPR being administered on the shore. No information if it was pre or post dive. I'll try and get more information as it's available...if it's available...

    La Paz water temperatures

We're going to be on a live aboard in the La Paz area in a few days. We live in Bonaire and dive here a lot. Unfortunately that means we've adjusted to the temperatures here. We have a selection of wet suits and just need to know what the temps are running at depth this month. Thanks,

    G2 Log Empty

I've had my G2 for a while. Last time I downloaded my log I had 311 dives on it. Today I connected it to my iMac and tried to download the new dives. No new dives were detected. That was odd. I looked at the log on the G2 and it was empty other than dive statistics showing 320 dives, longest one...

"Kralendijk - A 64 year old man got into trouble on Monday afternoon after he went diving alone. This happened during a shore dive near a diving school in the Hato district. The scuba diver was a certified solo diver and experienced. According to the police the diver came to the side in pain...

    M/V Valentina La Paz Trip

Four of us are thinking about a week on the M/V Valentina this fall. Two of us have been diving in the Sea of Cortez before but never from a live aboard. Looking for general recommendations about the outfit, the boat, food, etc.

    Another Bonaire fatality

The local news reported that a male diver had difficulties in the water in front of Captain Don's Habitat this morning at about 11:00. He was brought to shore where CPR was administered but it was unsuccessful. The only other "detail" mentioned was that he was a tourist.

    Diver found dead. Bonaire

The local news, Live 99 FM had a story about a deceased male diver found floating near kite beach by a local fisherman today. No news of a possible dive buddy. More news might be forthcoming tomorrow. Updated link translation button is on the upper left. A snorkeler also drowned in on Kein...

    Apeks XTX 200 IP issues

I have an Apeks XTX 200 with close to 400 dives on it. It's been serviced every couple of years and never had a problem until the last year. Admittedly we moved to Bonaire and 250 of those dives were in the last 18 months or so and now the IP moves around. It will work fine for a while and then...

    EPL10/AOI housing vacuum/moisture detection

On an earlier thread there was a discussion as to whether the battery in the AOI case was replaceable. It is but you have to replace the whole system, moisture strip and all. Apparently moisture sensors are not available as a single replacement part either, although the fact they're held in by...

    G2 and iMac

I used to be able to connect my cable between my iMac and my G2 and download dives. Not so any more. It refuses to be seen that way. No problem. I'll just connect via Bluetooth. Nope. My iPad connects fine but that version of Logtrax is very clunky compared to the slightly better...

    ELF attachment

I recently passed the required PADI Lion Fish Hunter Distinctive Specialty Course to obtain the only legal method of harvesting Lion Fish in the Marine Park that surrounds Bonaire. I've used pole spears in the past and of course they're superior but not allowed so I'm stuck with what I have...

TG 5 and slight focus issue.

P7150121 by Steelyeyes posted Jul 16, 2020 at 11:50 AM I shoot a TG 5 in a housing with two Inon S2000 strobes. I generally have counted on the autofocus feature an until recently wasn't disappointed. I'm 60 years old and my close vision is not what it used to be. I have custom lenses in my...

    Scubapro G2 PPO2 setting.

At one point I wanted to see if I could set my ppO2 to something other than 1.4. I tried it several times and always got "Changes not saved". I was diving with my friend the other day and he had his Shearwater Teric set at 1.6. We got to talking after the dive and my curiosity was piqued again...
