    Guadalupe

Just back from a trip to Guadalupe aboard the Nautilus Explorer. Great boat and crew and good shark action. Here are three shots:

Land-based Tiger Beach with Stuart Cove

Hi Ron. You're right that the flash was a weak fill. It worked best when sharks were overhead to keep the belly white. On the 3rd pic posted the strobe shadow from the shark's pec fin is clearly visible on the shark's body and on the remora (the strobe shadow is not a good thing, only an...

Land-based Tiger Beach with Stuart Cove

Hey Larry! You'd get the hang of it after just a few minutes. For the record, I was shooting ISO 200, f14, 1/125 with 2 Ike 125's set at 1/2 power. Plenty of light in 15' of water and a sandy bottom.

Land-based Tiger Beach with Stuart Cove

I've made trips to Tiger Beach, Bahamas, in the past, but this was my first time from a land-based boat as opposed to a liveaboard. Stuart Cove is running trips from West End, Grand Bahama. The trip is about an hour's run each way. Here are a few shots from the past 3 days:

    A few from Key Largo

One last shot of Sharon (my wife) with the Goliath from The City of Washington wreck. If we had a big enough fishbowl, she would have wanted to take him home.

    A few from Key Largo

mselenaous: The Goliath in the first post was near the City of Washington. It was quite a bit larger than the one with Dave B. in the last pic, which was from Mike's Wreck. There were also some great jawfish at Mike's Wreck--large, bold, and colorful. Too bad I was set up for wide angle. We also...

    A few from Key Largo

One more shot. This is longtime photographer David Breidenbach with a little Goliath we found near a shallow wreck during our last dive. I'm putting it up just so I can say "David and Goliath".

    A few from Key Largo

On my way home from a drive trip to Key Largo. We dove for 4 days. Here are a few pics from the trip:

    Lionfish in Bonaire

Thanks, Larry! They'd be simple to get with just a pole spear. Maybe it's time to get the word out to fellow South Louisiana coonasses that they're really good to eat but there's a short season on them.

    Lionfish in Bonaire

Thanks for the comments. The lionfish pics came from the Small Wall area, where we dove for most of the week. We saw them day and night. Here are two more shots from the trip:

    Lionfish in Bonaire

Thanks! The camera was a Nikon D300 (Ike housing), strobes were dual Ike 125s. The wide angle of the diver was with a Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye, the rest were with a Nikkor 60mm.

    Lionfish in Bonaire

When I was in Bonaire 2 years ago, the lionfish were just a rumor. Now they're all over the place. The Bahamas have been infested with them for a while, and now it looks like there's a new top predator on the reefs throughout the entire Caribbean. Here are a few shots from a few weeks ago. -Clay

    Galapagos

I wasn't on a boat, but the sockets on the islands are US-type (probably not exact US voltage). The US dollar is the official currency.

    Galapagos

A few more shots. You can see the bad viz in some of them, but it sort of adds a mood to the cow-nosed rays. I'm including the whale shark pic as a documentation despite the fact that I cut off its tail (grrr!). Clay

    Galapagos

Thanks! I dedicated a whole dive to getting that shot. We found several subjects soon into the dive, but it took 20 minutes of creeping and wrangling to get close enough for that head-on with a 60mm. It was a lot of fun. BTW, the site was Punta Cormoron on Floreana.

    Galapagos

Dry suit damage is an issue. We had several "rock hugging" dives in high current. Everybody on our trip dove wet, and one guy bought a semi-dry especially for the trip because he didn't want to risk a dry suit tear. I dove in a 6.5 with a hood and gloves and was reasonably comfortable. The...

    Galapagos

If you spend any time in Guayaquil on the mainland, stay the the Unipark hotel. There's a park across the street that is full of land iguanas--good photo ops right in the middle of town. You should enjoy a lot warmer water than we had (63 F in some places). We were at Santa Cruz, Isabela, and...

    Galapagos

That's a red-lipped batfish--really bizarre and one of my main goals from the trip. We found several near Floreana Island. Here it is in profile:

Just back from a week in the Galapagos. Bad weather and very low viz, but I got a few shots. I put some images up at Galapagos Islands Here are three:
