Not entirely true. They made the R156 until at least 1997 hecause that's when I bought mine. I still have the revised parts list and diagram that came with it and it's also dated 1997.

I have a later version with the plastic saddle too. It also has 2 hp ports like the MK10. I like the way the chrome saddles look but they do add a bit of weight to the regulator.

Could it be a sink hole that has opened up? That is pretty common down here in Florida due to the karst geology. One recently opened up in a resevoir not far from me. I don't know about Texas geology though.
