A hand grip like the one shown is comfortable but will not reduce shakes much. You will need something bigger like a tray with 2 handles to more significantly stabilize the shot.

My guess is the camera will survive. Most floods are a small leak from one of the buttons and the pressure will only slightly rise. Plus, u will see the water and could ascend.

The YS-03 is offers an excellent value for money. We are doing some test dives with it as we speak. I believe it will perform well in Canon manual mode as well. Will simply require you to control the flash level manually from the camera itself.

My personal preference is the RX100 III. Plus with the new Fantasea housing that is starting to ship next week , I think it's the best bang for the buck. I find the photos out of the RX100 III to be the sharpest and it has the best low light capability which I have seen in a compact.
