Donning weight belt with crotch strap.

I also dive the TPII with crotch strap, and have found it easier, and just as safe as long as you practice, to wear teh weight belt UNDER the crotch strap. Make sure your buddy is aware of thsi configuration as well in case they are the one's 'ditching' your belt in an emergency...

    tornadoes

FYI - Actually there are many industries (Insurance & Construction being the biggest) investigating the best ways to build 'Fortified' homes. Although efforts have mostly been targeted at hurricane plagued staes (Florida/the Carolinas) as opposed to 'Tornado Alley' areas. "Fortified"...

    diving after vasectomy

I was told by my doctor 4-6 weeks. He wasn't really worried about the physical exersion fo diving - more the lugging around of heavy tanks. Good luck!! Make sure to get lots of 'couch' time the firts couple of days after the surgery - makes the recovery time a lot shorter!

As 911 approaches.. how have you changed ?

As to America playing the role of 'world police' - I have only one comment - a quote of John F Kennedy's: "Of those to whom much is given, much is required" As to remembering 9/11 - The Sunday school class I teach is making thank-you cards for the local fire dept. We will be delivering...

How do you wear your mask when your not using it?

I have a clip attached to my left BC strap where I 'hang' my mask when not in use. I have found it very handy - and more comfortable than around my neck.

    Suunto watch-computers

The mosquito also offers the 'conservatism' adjustments that Mike addressed above. I love mine - not a bad looking watch either. I do plan to pick up a velcro band for mine...

How does one train for the unexpected?

I read a post of his not too long ago where he talked about how he and his buddy (Shawn) are constantly doing planned and unplanned tests of their buddy skills, ooa scenarios etc. After reading this - I talked to my buddy about planning this type of practice on our dives. It just sounded like an...

Pug's new fitness program for DIR divers...

Uncle P - please be careful with that chainsaw! On a related note - I used to hate cotton wood trees too - such a mess to clean up - than last year as we walked out our back door one sunny Sunday morning, greated by a 'snowfall' of cotton wood seeds on a light breeze, my daughter said...

    Regs on airplane?

The only thing I carry on anymore is my laptop & power cord, a book and my wrist mount computer. I am looking into equipment insurance - I would hope they would cover lost luggage - I'll have to check into that.....

What kind of slate do you use, and where is it stored?

I bought a small wrist slate with attached (bungeed) golf-pencil at my LDS ($7.95) with two velcro straps that I tie off to my left forearm. I supposed it is a potentil entanglement hazard, but it is really low profile and easy to use. Not a lot of writing surface - but I've never needed more...

    Gear Bags

I use a large rolling duffle (not sure the maker - bought it for $18 at a 'luggage sale' at a local hotel.) But first, I pack all my gear (except the regs/guages and wrist mount computer) in a large mesh duffle (30x15x15) I purchased from Leisure Pro for $19.95 - which has a zippered 'pocket' at...

    First boat dive....

I am also a newbie - 6 dives so far - and would just feel more comfortable on my first boat dive if there was a DM in the water. I also learn a lot just by watching experienced divers in the water. I was actually supposed to dive off West Palm a few months ago (unfortunately canceled by weather)...

    Weights!!!!!!! Belt or bcd

I carry half in my BC pockets and half in my weight belt. I'm still mulling over purchasing a couple of LP 104's - to use as singles - so once I have those I'll have to figure out how much weight I'll loose and where it should be for the best trim. I still like the idea of splitting between the...

AOW diver needs new regulator advice

Ok - I'll be the first to get on the Apeks band wagon (I am a new diver and have been very happy with mine). I got the TX50/DS4 and TX40 Octo from DiveInn.com (Spain) last fall for $319. I forget what delivery was - but it wasn't too much and I had my order in 4 days.

Losing Weight & Gear adjustments ... what else do I need to consider?

Congratulations on losing weight!!!!!! I have gained some weight since my OW last summer - so things are a little more snug this spring. I am also working on losing some pounds 'under' the weight belt - not an easy task - but I'm in it for the long haul (recently started the Weight Wathcer 1-2-3...

Dive Rite Reg or other cold water suggestions

I kinow a college budget can be tight - OK - it's been 13 yrs since I was in college - but I remember! I would go with APEKS - an on-line sources from across the pond (DIVEINN.COM) had the best prices when I bought mine last year. I got a TX50/DS4 with TX40 octo for $319. I only dive warm (so...
