Possible to remain completely neutral when deploying SMB?

My guess is that you aren't in fact neutrally buoyant when you start to play with the SMB. The difference is that normally you will vent the gas from your lungs before you start to drift up and this will correct the added buoyancy of your full lungs (keep in mind your neutral buoyancy is the...

    Is tapatalk "worth it"?

Forum owners pay nothing for tapatalk backed. It is funded by the mobile device users who get the benefit. The forum owners do potentially lose advertising revenue. I find it great most of the time but have found that there are instances where posts are not displayed (seem to be long posts)...

    Tank standards what a mess!!

Given the pain in the proverbial that transporting tanks is anyway. Ie if flying valves must be removed. It's only when you look at the disparity in purchasing prices that it becomes an issue. Once you've bought the tank the pain then comes from the annual hydros.

    Experienced views on Apeks Flight?

Yep. The "travel" reg thing is only a sales pitch. Unlike the FREE parts for life. Combined with your misquote regarding service intervals. From the Oceanic website http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/us/support-warranty/ under Alliance Advantage Program which supports free parts for life. "All...

    Poor Quality Hollis Drysuit

Regardless of whether the OP called first or if Hollis is/was gearing up for DEMA it is poor form to have a web based complaints/contact system that is not monitored. The comment that because the customer emailed 3 times it may have been seen as spam. Are you kidding? Someone doesn't get a...

What would you do if your computer died?

If this was a diving holiday I personally wouldn't have been stuffing around with tables prior to the incident as to me the simplicity of diving a computer makes the experience more enjoyable. I realise that there are people out there who get their jollies from planning their dives and agonising...

    BP&W vs jacket BC, AGAIN!

Not sure if I agree with dumping sidemount in with BP&W as I dive either a jacket or a homemade razor style harness. I find either is ideal for the type of diving I do with them and personally hated the BP&W when I tried one. The club I dive with actually has a mix of jackets, BP&W and sidemount...

anyone using a Aqualung with the i3 system?

Having moved from my proQD i3 to diving mainly sidemount the one thing I still miss is the i3 system. Despite knowing where the rear dump is I still find myself fiddling around for it. On the other hand I can go back to the proQD and immediately dump air no matter what my attitude. It's a bloody...

    A quick review

Mike, You may want to update your website with a bit more detail on what the lifeline is and what it does. I came to scuba board to find out information on what the lifeline does. The information on the website is press the red button. I assume that the device allows diver to boat comms...

    Living and Diving Tasmania!

For anyone interested there is a Tassie e-zine called Marine LIFE The magazine is a (hopefully) monthly, free, eco-friendly, advertising-free, email community magazine. The editorial group are all recreational scuba divers and its very slanted in that direction currently, but it is our...

    Photoshop recommendations

I know I might be in the minority here (looking at the posts I'm definately in the minority) but I think you can't go past the price of GIMP with ufraw as both are open source. There's probably a bigger learning curve and doesn't seem to be much support on here but I personally would rather use...

    Need Advice

If the TTL uses cables then turn off the flash. Using the built in flash firstly draws power and more importantly will highlight backscatter if there are suspended particles. The idea of external flashes is to light from the side and reduce reflection from particles.

    Has Nikon gone mad?

The only issue with GPS in this setting is that water attenuates the satellite signal to the extent it's not usable under water. The only way around this is an external aerial on a float, which simply adds to the complexity.

    Why use a watch?

And not to forget it's easier to sell one to a newbie if it's seen as an essential piece of diving kit. ;)

    Dive computer recommendations

Considering that algorithyms and hardware are constantly being tweaked and updated, you'd probably be better off buying a tech computer when you start tech diving - particularly if it's a couple of years away. Personally I bought a Suunto Gekko as it's the lowest priced nitrox computer that...

    Aqualung's war with Online Consumers

The warranty card is not removed, it simply says that there is no warranty if the product is not purchased over the counter in the US at a LDS (or words to that effect). If you have an item then check the warranty card. If you don't I can find mine and post a copy somewhere.

    Aqualung's war with Online Consumers

Excuse me, but this is an absolute load of crap. If the item is manufactured by Aqualung they are responsible for the quality - regardless of where it's purchased. If Aqualung is able to identify where a product has been purchased through a different channel than the bricks and mortar LDS (and...

    Living and Diving Tasmania!

No problems. As far as water temp it doesn't get much colder unless you decide to drive to the highland lakes and dive under the ice in winter as some of the guys from oceandiversplus did earlier this year. Water temp at 2 deg c to a depth of 5m.
