BARE Nex-Gen for a first drysuit?

Check out divetank and scubatoys for their packages as well. not sure what's included in the scuba.com package, but i got mine for about $850 shipped from divetank and that included the suit with thigh pockets, trek boots, 150g fleece undergarment 7mm hood, 5mm gloves and some other stuff (bag...

Best way to mark/draw on webbing/cam straps

Sure. No price though. They do ask me to fill a form, which I didn't try. Just want to know what these things cost before filling any forms.

Hose length for SPG in single rig?

Taller people tend to have taller torsos so the length from the first stage to the left hip is greater assuming the tanks are roughly as high for both tall and short divers. Similarly extra width in a person will move the first stage and hip d-ring further from each other. My ex-gf was a...

Dry suit boots, attached or rock boot style?

I use Chuck Taylor hi-tops sized for tight but comfortable fit (one size bigger than my normal shoe size). The thing I like about them is that I can lace them up real tight so there's no space for gas to expand in my feet. i.e. no floaty feet. Also they add relatively little extra over the...

Best way to mark/draw on webbing/cam straps

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep an eye out for silver sharpies. How much do those things cost and where can you order them?

Hose length for SPG in single rig?

I'm 6" and 185" and 24" works well for me with a single tank rig even in a drysuit with thick undies (I use Dive-Rite RG 2500 and Salvo SR1/SRS for regs). 22" is too short for me with a single tank, though I can get away with it in doubles (but it's too tight even in them and I prefer 24")...

Is my neoprene neck seal too loose?

My neck is about 14-15" in diameter. My neoprene neck seal is probably about 14" in diameter (when pressed flat one side is 7"), though you have to fold it back in so that the smooth side is against your neck, wihch of course makes it tighter. Its pretty easy to pull it one and off. Here's...

Any tips to dry the inside of a bladder and can you wash it with diluted mouthwash?

Looking for tips and tricks for bladder maintenance? After a dive trip I like to fill my wing/s 1/4 to 1/2 full of tap water and shake it around before draining. Of course some water is left behind and I get most of it out by using the OPV and inflator/deflator valves to purge it after...

Best way to mark/draw on webbing/cam straps

Here's the problem: When using independent doubles I need to position the cam straps just right with AL80 type tanks or else the strap will end up sticking out off the side. For future reference I want to mark the spot where the cam strap goes through my inverted STA I use to rig the doubles...

What kind lead shot for weights?

I ended up buying a 4# soft weight for $10 from the LDS which I cut open and poured into my sausage weight. I decided to forgo making any other soft weights because of the alleged environmental issues.

    Wetsuit hanger with fan?

Well, I suppose if I was wealthy instead of a non-wealthy grad student I'd get one of those, but yeah, right now I'll try the towel trick. I still think it seems like a neat gadget.

    Wetsuit hanger with fan?

I get newsletters from leisurepro every now and then, and this morning I got one advertising a wetsuit hanger with a fan on it for $45. I'm going to dutch springs tomorrow and I'll use a 7mm wetsuit because that's what the diveshop recommended. At the same time it's raining and cold outside...

Sea pump? Or other u/w drinking devices?

that's true, but for equalization purposes you pretty much have to swallow with the mouthpiece in mouth unless you want to be constantly taking it out and putting it back. I use the nose pinch method too, but prefer swallowing to equalize when possible or nose pinch followed by swallowing.

Sea pump? Or other u/w drinking devices?

Dunno if I can I trust those guys? They are pimping the infamous Air Buddy and claim it'll make your air supply last 20% longer. Does anyone have any direct experience with SCUDA?

Sea pump? Or other u/w drinking devices?

That looks interesting - same function as the Sea Pump, but simpler build. Have you tried it? Anyone have any feedback on these? And do they still sell them?

Sea pump? Or other u/w drinking devices?

Yeah, that looks like a generic version of Tobin's hydration pack. The Sea Pump is slightly cooler if it works - well, perhaps not cooler, but different, the hydration packs are probably a more elegant solution for basic drinking needs underwater, but the Sea Pump has other advantages. It...

Sea pump? Or other u/w drinking devices?

I noticed this product on ebay: Sea Pump - Underwater Drinking Device for Scuba Divers - (eBay item 150169271323 end time Oct-14-07 02:40:02 PDT) The attachment method seems a bit crude and I'm not sure if it would work with a 7ft hose, but I like the basic idea of an underwater drinking...

Apollo Bio Filter ... any input?

mdb, i too don't understand the cost - not saying it's too high, just that i don't understand why it's so high. i thought the bio-filter was basically a wet sponge in a waterproof casing connecting the 1st stage and LP reg hose so that as gas goes through it some moisture is picked up, no...

    BC Dive Knife $4.95

Nice looking knife. If I'm seeing correctly (the pic is small) it has the metal running through the handle and sticking out at end, which I understand is for banging on the tank to get another diver's attention. Just thought I'd mention that.

Who makes the best Gloves and Booties?

Those boots look cool but they also look like they might take more fin pocket space than regular booties. How do you think they'd compare to regular 6mm booties like this? Do you happen to know how they fit jetfins?
