    Tighten your nuts!

Was moving my doubles earlier this week when I noticed a nut on the floor, picked it up and set it on the bench. Never thought anything about it until I hoisted the doubles into the trunk and the handwheel fell off. Tightened with a regular screw driver but I was left wondering how tight I...

my byline/descriptor changed to public safety diver?

Hi, I just saw that my byline thingy under my name is now public safety diver. I'm not. I didn't make this change and don't recall signing up to this group (if indeed it is closed), but might have signed up to lurk. Last I recall, my byline was DIR Practitioner (associated with one of the...

Duties to pay when ordering online from the states

Best to get shipped through Canada post on this end. May / may not get asked to pay duty. Courier wii cost an extra 10$ for brokerage fee above any duty paid, which will always be assessed in this option. From Europe, Canada post route will likely take longer.

    DSS weight plate and doubles

Hi Folks, I have a DSS bp, with the weight plates attached. Is this easily convertible to doubles or do the weight plates need to come off. I would prefer to leave the plates on if feasible. (Note. I'm well aware of the weight I need; the style of diving I do has a balanced set up, with weight...

    500psi

I note that gauges are not particularly accurate at end of dive. Are they consistently not accurate or intermittently not accurate? Reason for asking is that I've breathed my spg down quite a bit, say 100PSI with no problems. Should I always be able to breath it down to 100psi with no problems...

    Why Dive Blind???

I've snorkelled with a friend who was 100% blind. He *really* enjoyed the sound of coral be crunched, not to mention the floatiness of the salt water.

    Weighting for descent vs bottom

Just go to surface at end of dive, inform buddy/boat what you are doing, empty tank to whatever (e.g., 100psi), exhale, and see what happens (float vs. sink). Add/subtract weights accordingly and retry. This would be the weight you need in the exposure suit you are wearing (if in drysuit...

    DUI crotch strap

Thanks Scuba in Chicago. With the benefit of your earlier advice, I now don't have to contend with talking in that high pitched voice. This is, without a doubt, much safer for me and my dive buddies, as I was afraid of attracting all kinds of dangerous aquatic wildlife checking out my...

    DUI crotch strap

Just dove my new flx extreme. As for the suit's crotch strap, how tight do folks tighten this? I dive a Bp/w and its crotch strap is tight (tighter than the suit's). So I was thinking that the suit's strap does not need to be particular tight. Thoughts?

    Rental tanks in Greece

Thanks oldbear. I'm diving close to these islands ( Sifnos). I wasn't expecting Al, but given that is what I dive with, good news if it works out this way. I assume they are in bar?

Bolt Snap for Regulator with thick dry gloves?

I used to use a mid-sized snap with dry glove but switched to a small one and have no regrets. The decision to switch was because I realized that with my hand grabbing the primary hose, my thumb or pointing finger couldn't comfortably reach the snap gate/toggle/switch/ button thingy consistently...
