Said this before, I went out with Thatch Caye to do the whale sharks last year and loved every minute of it, diving nearby was stunning, place and people everything you could ask for and more......

Scuba Playa has an excellent reputation in the area, as does Phocaea. If you want to dive Cozumel it's cheaper to get the ferry over and go direct to the dive operations there. The ferry is dead simple and Aquasafaris (turn right out of the ferry terminal and it's about 300 yards on your left...

Check out Thatch Caye, southern Belize, as they tend to put together the package you want and quite often you'll have your own boat and Instructor...... They also run to the outer atolls such as BH/Lighthouse and Turneffe.

Check out southern Belize. I worked in Cozumel and have dived plenty in southern Belize and would say that you would not be disappointed. Choose to stay on one of the cayes as the trip out to the dive sites from the mainland every day gets very boring very quickly!

Have you thought about basing yourself closer to the diving? Southern Belize has some great places to stay and the cayes are closer to the dive sites than those on the mainland. The whale sharks will be around at Gladden, not really possible from the north of Belize without some serious time...
