Sorry for asking a redundant question. After researching other posts it looks like water temps average anywhere from 79-83 degrees. A friend of mine just returned from Bonaire and said the water temps were 78 degrees. We leave for Curacao in less than 2 weeks and my only wetsuit is a 3 ml. Does anybody have recent feedback on the current water temps? Thanks in advance for any input.

The water temperature during a dive this weekend was close to 80; you may expect 79 and if it gets really cold 78. In the past I dove with just a boxer short and T-shirt and that was doable. Currently I am using a 2.5mm wetsuit and that is certainly sufficient. But that is also dependent on how quickly you feel cold.

I admire (and envy) gustele for not getting cold! I don't enter the water with less than 5mm full suit + hood-vest, it's "freezing" :)

3mm wetsuit for most tourist divers is ok, maybe consider bringing a hood - that helps a lot.

Greetings from Curacao, see you soon, morecowbells!

Thanks for the information Andreas and Gustele! At this time last year the water temps were at 83 degrees. Since I am a total wimp when it comes to cold water, I decided to order a beanie type of hoodie. Hopefully it will arrive in time. It is amazing how just a couple of degrees differrence in water temperature can feel.

You can think about getting a 1mm rash guard as well. We find it great for some extra core warmth at the end of a week of diving.

Just came back. Water temp was 78-80 F. I wore 3 mm, with rash guard and hood. No problem. Posted a few pictures in the photo gallery, if interested. Corals are beautiful and there are lots of flamingo tongues and varied polyps. Huge lobsters! Dove with OEW. Thanks, Andreas, Sunshine....:)

Thanks Diving Panda and Titamom! Went out today and bought a beanie and a vest. I will probably end up looking like the Marshmallow Man, but at least I will be be warm!

The vest and hood will serve you well. Just got back on Jan. 3 and had water temps in the 78 -80F range. Was very comfy with 3mm wetsuit and hooded vest, and I get cold easily too. Remember, Warm=comfortable, Comfortable = using less air, using less air=more bottom timeand more bottom time means life is good.
