Shearwater Peregrine TX No Comms

Has anyone or is anyone able to measure the distance between the transmitter and computer before you get a "no comms" warning? The manual states three feet, but I'm not getting that far. I have two units. One has a significantly shorter distance than the other before the "no comms" warning.

Is anyone able to get more than 32"?

(Give or take 1-2" depending on where the Tx antenna actually starts.)

Swift A:

Computer 1: 21"
Computer 2: 32"

Swift B:

Computer 1: 24"
Computer 2: 31"

Switch batteries between the swifts, I had a deal battery in less than 6 months.
