The body of a drowned diver, who disappeared earlier today in the waters of Lake Ohrid, was found this afternoon, near the village of Trpejca in Ohrid.

According to eyewitnesses, he was wearing a diving suit and had full diving equipment.

The Interior Ministry previously announced that a 52-year-old Bulgarian citizen went missing while diving to a depth of 89 meters, above the village of Trpejca.

The incident occurred today at around 13:15 PM, and teams from the Lake Police, the Red Cross and divers from the "Amfora" club were engaged in finding him.

Ohrid Interior Ministry spokesman Stefan Dimoski confirmed the incident this afternoon and announced that the body was recovered from great depths.

The causes of the accident are not yet known./Telegraph/

There was someone posting fairly regularly on FB about experimenting with a hydrogen mix -- I think at Lake Ohrid. Is this related?

Ljubomir Gligorov is the one that posts on FB. Not many experimenting with hydrogen outside of the Wet Mules.

A terrible tragedy.
My post was on August 9, 2025, and I think the news story was on the same date. Your linked story was dated 10/08/2025, which I think is the 10th of August. There's some discrepancy as to whether his body was found. Searching deeper than 290 feet is not likely, but he could float.

Yes, the post and news article are related. His body is still not found. According to an interview with his daughter, the dive has been a well planned technical dive with 5 tanks on him. She mentions that her father started descending faster on the rope. Due to poor visibility the 2nd diver lost visual contact with him and when he descended to the planned depth as well, there was no sign of him. Also she mentioned about strong current and challenging conditions.

So the 5 tanks don't seem to match the kayak in the story in the article. Rest sounds about right. Not sure about the use of hydrogen mix.

He was a great guy and a very experienced diver...

If it's the same guy on FB unfortunately I think a whole lot of us were looking at his gear and profiles while waiting for this inevitability.
