🍽️Dive into flavor at Café del Marr, the brand-new 24-hour hotspot in Cozumel! The perfect spot for all you scuba divers to grab a tasty pre-dive meal. Located on 20th Avenue between 13th South and Xelha. Whether it’s breakfast before your morning dive or a late-night snack, they have got you covered.🐠

Is it near Torino's? I suspect it will be more popular with the folks wandering home after being kicked out of the bar than with divers looking for breakfast before a 7am boat departure.

2.5 blocks away. Many divers lite up Facebook looking for breakfast spots before their morning dives.

Look, I've no reason to not root for the new place. I love having new options. I'm just giving my opinion why I think it will struggle. A big red flag for businesses is when they don't listen to the people and insist they have it all figured out.

I've walked that area a lot - used to stay at a place at 25th/c11 and often walked to Torino's. After dark there is almost no foot traffic and definitely not tourists. I've been to Coz many dozens of times and a question almost always asked on the boat is "where are you staying?" Not once have I heard someone say they are staying in that area. 95% are in hotels along Melgar or inner centro. And most don't have rental cars. I don't think divers are going to be walking all over town at 5am. They may be looking for a convenient place near their waterfront hotel or marina. If this place were somewhere like next to Thirsty Cougar it might fly. Or maybe like where Ernesto's is and catch all the traffic headed to the marina.

If this place targets locals and is priced for locals, it might do ok, and attract the savvy tourists like Los Tacotales or El Pique does. If this is another place looking for the top tourist dollar I think it will crash and burn.

You commented, he replied. Let it rest. No point in continuing to declare doom over someone's dream. Time will tell.

Thirsty Cougar tried years ago to get the early am diver breakfast going and it never really took off and you don't get much more convenient to the aldora and aqua safari piers. I hope this place does well, but location may make it a challenge to coral the diver community. Its wild to see a 24 hour place here!

Wow. If they can't get it going in that location I think it's hopeless. Even then, no need for 24/7 as divers aren't going to be interested in anything before 6am at the earliest.

The place that I think could best pull it off is Casa Mexicana. They already have a wonderful breakfast buffet that is free for guests and last I checked about $12 for outsiders. It opens at 7am which makes it tight but I've stayed there several times and made it work. Be there at 7am, eat fast, out by 7:20 for a 5 minute walk. But then I'm a fast eater - take a bite, chew, swallow, take a bite, chew, swallow, repeat until done - and save the small talk for on the boat. I've also heard but never tried that you can request the night before to have a breakfast-to-go box be ready for you at 7am.

All they would have to do is open an hour earlier and maybe add an employee. They already have the infrastructure in place and definitely have the reputation. I understand the point of a buffet is to simplify and streamline things, and I doubt they would be interested in a menu of a la carte ordering, but I think a $6 box to go that contained a scoop of scrambled eggs, a scoop of papas, and a few pieces of bacon would be a hit. Maybe could offer 2 or 3 box types. Or hand people a box and charge by weight.
