The necklace hose in their packages is a 22", I had to go with a 24" as a 22 doesn't allow me to turn my head all the way to the left. Same problem with a 5' for around the back of the neck or 40" for streamlined (under the arm with a swivel). I also needed a 28" SPG hose.

But my upper torso and neck are quite thick after years of competitive swimming and erg (indoor) rowing. Maybe try the stock sizes if you are getting a package? Hoses are pretty cheap from places like Piranha or DGX.

I erg too! Not absurd amounts but have been doing 30-40k consistently for quite a while. And also have a pretty thick upper body/neck. I did think that some of those hose lengths looked a tiny bit short. Good to have some actual feedback to that point. Thanks!

30-40k a day or a week? :-) I did a bunch of marathons, but doing one daily would be a bit much.

Be careful with your form. I did over 20 million meters over 6 years, but I had to stop due to the cumulative damage to the discs in my lower back.

Ha! A week. You ever look at the Concept2 site? There was some lady somewhere in the US who I think was in her 60s and at least once did 100k rows every day for a month.

100k in a day? It must have taken her over 8 hours.

I still have my best times recorded for various distances. I was better at the longer distances, but I did finally manage to get under 7 minutes for the 2k when I was 40 years old. Here's my best times by distance, time and 500m pace. The real rowers will laugh at these, but they were all set in my late 30s or age 40 before my son was born and I stopped doing it regularly.

6'4 standard weight person

I use standard length plates, with the waist belt high so I can wear ingot pocket weight belts without interference
How's about those bakpaks they all had waist belts high, jacket bcs with waist belt and those cummerbunds high
It is the virtually compulsory crotch strap system, I think it is a good thing that's pulling waist belts low from high
Weight belts with back plates are good, and you don't have to carry everything at once, which most can't anyway

I did eventually switch from a standard length to a long plate to get the waist band to a more reasonable position. Long plates are tougher to find, but you can still pair them with the DGX wing and harness so the total price shouldn't be that much higher.

+1

I've been using the OxyCheq travel plate and 20 lb wing for several months. The plate is very short - 12" from shoulder strap keepers to waist loops. It's a single strap system. The waist strap angles down over my hips, and is held down in front by the crotch strap. I added a chest strap to keep the shoulder straps in place. I'm 6'1", 240lb, 52" chest, 36" waist. A hard plate would be more sensitive on fitting as most are contoured to fit the curve of ones back. But still, the single strap system has loads of adjustment.

🤷‍♂️ I have 4 hard backplates of various brands and none of them are curved.
