Holly flounder, this has been going on since my days diving there starting in 1984 and even much earlier. My OW dives were at back beach in April 1984. This "love" never stopped.

It's a small group that ultimately want their own private beach. They are starting with divers to get a foundation and set a precident because divers are such a small part of the population.

I keep saying everyone needs to boycott rockport. I mean everyone.

The entire economy is based on tourism. If no one goes there maybe they will learn to treat the people they relay on properly.
Quite the opposite - the more divers support local businesses the more the town values us. This issue isn't the town gov or majority of locals against divers, it's a VERY small group of homeowners who want to privatize Back Beach. Most of the residents don't like them or the taxpayer-money-wasting lawsuits. To the point that last year numerous houses had "divers welcome" signs in their yards. Which I found hilarious next to the "BLM" or "Thin Blue Line" type signs. The locals are generally very friendly if not outright excited to hear about what we see down there.

It's called peer pressure, stop filing BS lawsuits, trying to run over divers with your bost, slashing tires, putting up illegal no parking signs etc. If we boycott the good people will peer pressure the bad ones into good behavior.

Yeah mine were there in 1989. I don’t dive around there anymore but I paddle on the north shore occasionally, and there’s similar BS.

It relies on the tourism driven by all the airbnbs and summer homes. They wouldn't notice if divers stopped coming.

I said EVERYONE,, not just divers. Why do you think they are targeting divers.

If everyone stays away, they win.

Who’s side are you on? 😜

Nope when the economy collapses they will be begging for the tourist to return
