First off hello everyone . I just got on SB today. Been try to post in a WTB in the classifieds but having hell with it. Anyways until I get it figure out. I would appreciate an answer or two.
What would be a fair price to pay for a Mk5 or Mk 10 first and a 109 or maybe even a 108 second….. I know this is a broad question. Looking for a ball park price or what you would pay for a clean/serviceable reg, asking prices seem to jump all over.
Looking to learn about working on them but that is for another day. Thanks in advance

Classifieds require a certain number of posts in the forum overall before you can post there.. fairly reasonable effort to minimize spammers and scammers, but sometimes results in this type of situation. Just engage with people on the forum and your post count will cross the threshold quick.
As to value of a MK5/10 and 108/109... yep, prices are all over. Much of it varies by condition (both cosmetic and functional). I'm not good at answering these ones, because I tinker on them just for the fun of it and because I can. I do have more of them than I need, so depending on your needs/goals I can probably set up, but @Couv is probably a better reference for value.
On servicing them, do your research. A wise man said that it isn't difficult, just precise! There are a lot of resources out there, but for those in particular I would start at getting the schematics off the repository at VintageDoubleHose, and look at the videos on YouTube that he did. The store is not open, due to Bryan's passing.

Respectfully,

James

Ball park price for MK5 MK10 in clean serviceable condition is 30 to 40 bucks.
Ball park price for 109 (not balanced adjustable) in clean serviceable condition is 40 to 60 bucks.
Ball park price for 108 (not 108HP) in clean serviceable condition is 30 to 40 bucks.
Double the above prices if they have been serviced.

On a good day you might steal a set of all of the above for $75 if you watch the auction sites long enough. Sometimes a great deal comes along. Good idea to source these items from someone on Scubaboard, the offerings tend towards higher quality and lower price vs auction sites.

For what its worth, I could offer you a MK5 or MK10 with 109 and 108 in clean but unserviced condition for $100 plus shipping.

One of the best bargains I did was purchasing a latest-version MK5 with original DIN attachment; paired with its original matched 109, original hose, and seat saver insert, all "new old stock" never been in water, fully serviced and tuned, and with BA conversion (including curvy feet lever and the newest S-wing poppet) for 180 Eur.
Here the history of this bargain: MK5/109 Beauty.....

Thanks for the information about posting on classified section. I understand, it is hard to price something of this nature.

Thanks for the information. That was the prices that I thought they were running but wanted to be sure because some of the people I have contacted have them priced way above market value.
I am in talks with a few people but will definitely get back with you.

That is a beautiful piece at a great price.

Many of the regulars here would probably be able to say if they are selling a MK5/MK10 with steel or brass turret retainers, but since the only way to find out is opening the first stage the average seller would not know the answer to that question.

If buying blind, I assume MK10 retainers to be steel and MK5 retainers to be brass. That will cover 95% of used MK5/MK10s out there.
Even some of the early 90s version MK5s with modern style yoke screw came from the factory with brass retainers, so it might be possible to find a few of the very earliest MK10s with brass retainer.
Glad I picked up a few steel replacements from VDH a few years ago. not sure where to source them now.
