First of all, I am a photographer. I was in the Philippines a few years ago and had a very experienced diver who was THE most rude person I have ever encountered. I would be carefully photographing something and he would come in on me hot and essentially elbow his way into the space where I was shooting, take a couple of shots with his ****** little camera and then turn around and forcefully fin his way away kicking up a cloud of sand in the process. I have seen some people do some unwitting and unintended blunders that are easily forgivable but this guy was just outrageous. I finally complained to the operator and was put on a separate boat so as to avoid the interaction. It is the only time I have ever wanted to punch someone underwater.

You call someone rude then insult their camera.

I suspect you overspent on a giant camera contraception and we’re blocking others from seeing the cool thing. I find it cringe when people carry giant cameras for their personal photos. Like, just enjoy the dive why do you have to capture everything on a camera?

My brain is my camera.

I also find it cringe when every live event has people holding there phone up recording. Just enjoy the experience.

Not only that, but one doesn't need the full pressure of the tank with the valve wide open to blow out a drop of water. The shorter the OW class, the less time they spend on technique.

Actually I found the large majority of divers, the majority of the time, are quite courteous, that's why the knuckleheads are so annoying, and stand out so much.
I am really wondering where the people with all these pet peeves are diving that they keep running into all these inconsiderate people. I can't remember the last time I encountered something that bothered me in the slightest on a dive boat. Oh, there have been times, but not very often.
I’d be rich if I had a quarter for every time a recreational warm water diver told me I was going to die for:

Using a drysuit
Diving cold water
Cave diving
Moving to CCR

They don’t get the concept of intensive training mitigating the risks and there are rules to follow. 🤦‍♀️
If I had a quarter for every time a recreational warm water diver said I was going to die for one of those things, I wouldn't have 25 cents.
I wish dive shops differentiated between tank size for the pricing of fills. Irks me to pay the same full a 40/50 with air as it does an 80/85.
I think that for every trimix fill I have paid for in a shop, I was charged by the cubic foot.

Agreed. I just hate the blowing of the dust cap when a towel does better and is quieter. However, you are correct and the vast experiences of interactions are pleasant.

In another thread people are talking about the need to breathalyze all potential divers because of the large number of people boarding dive boats who are obviously intoxicated. Again, I have to wonder where these people are diving. I have never seen a diver who was visibly intoxicated.

Agreed, I see it like this. Call someone an A-hole during the day they probably are, twice in a day maybe, third time in a day who's the A-hole?

Most of what you are paying for is the labor to hook it up and the capital expense to maintain the capability. the actual incremental cost of compressing 40cf more air is negligible compared to those.

Solo hostile operators.

Thankfully where I dive there's plenty of dive boats who allow independent diving. It's just annoying to discover one that's solo hostile and thus won't get my business.

Hungover at best. Who drinks at 8 am in the morning?
