If you don't mind the $15/month and one-third power of a real PLB, but yeah - a lot better than nothing like most carry.
Don't need much power and it sends texts from anywhere quite well. While I am waiting to be rescued I can text them that I am being eaten by sharks.

It also has a trackable link that you can share with others (if you are late or dead:wink:)and quite a few other features as well.

I have the unlimited text, so not so cheap as the $15 plan but I use it all the time. It doubles as a PLB but was purchased for other things.

She is nice looking.
What does that have to do with anything Don? Ugly people deserve to be set adrift? Get the cute ones first? Sexist, uncalled for, and not germane to anything to be learned from this incident IMHO.

I have to wonder about a diver with decades of experience who would take her kids to sea without a PLB, but I guess it's still common. She is nice looking.

And I have to wonder about a dive op that would continue into a storm instead of sacrificing refunds.

Nice looking??? What on earth does that have to do with anything?

Oh, nothing really, other than it's why the story ran on so many news sites, with the photo. The British tourist was barely mentioned. I'm glad they all made it safely.

👆That’s not a PLB. This is a PLB 👇

But I carry both in my BCD pockets. 👇

Reminds me of something that always caught my attention when searching for a missing person in the water when I was in the Coast Guard. The situation report would always include a physical description of the person we were searching for. I never knew why.

Personally, I figured we'd pick up anybody we found floating at sea, and I wouldn't wait to see if the person we found matched the reported 5'9'' height before we picked him up. "Pardon me, Sir. Could you please stand up on top of the next wave so we can see if you're the right guy?"

Reminds me of the time my friend called 911 to report a completely naked man walking down the street by a middle school. They asked her for a description. She said, “he’s naked! He’s the only naked man on the street!”

It is so if you found someone adrift, and they didnt match the description, you should keep looking.
