Today I am seeing the red thumb down ("disagree") flag for the first time. This must be a new feature.

I see a couple of problems with this feature: First, in the past, I (and others?) have used the blue thumb up ("agree") flag not only when I have agreed with a particular post (of course), but also to acknowledge that I have read a post, and I have found it helpful, even if I do NOT completely agree with it. I think that introducing the red thumb down ("disagree") flag is forcing a dichotomy that has the potential of being divisive and just might squelch the productive exchanges between members participating in a given SB thread--which is a second, but related, reason I think the red thumb down ("disagree") flag should be discontinued.

I recommend discontinuing this new (?) red thumb down ("disagree") flag feature.

Respectfully,

Unfortunately no graphic artists have volunteered and none of us have that skill/talent. I suppose we could rotate the "Like" icon 180° but a less approving color has value.

Seems good enough to me

I too am not a fan of the red thumbs down. It will definitely cause me to post less. Not like I'm going to leave ScubaBoard over it, but on threads with serious and at times contagious debate, it will cause me to be less willing to participate and share my opinion. There is enough nastiness in the world as it is. I don't need any more of it.

Does someone going Julius Cesar on you with the thumbs down really put you off that much? An anonymous internet interaction shouldn't have that much of a play on your life. People disagree and a thumbs down is better than an F you with a middle finger, though that is warranted on occasion.

It's simple really. There is too much negativity, "going Julius Caesar" (I fixed your spelling for you), and F-U in the world today. I don't need yet one more mechanism for people to be obnoxious to me and each other.

I am just being honest. Will it ruin my day? Certainly not. I will go on with life. But will it cause me to post less if I find that people are throwing around dislikes? Heck yea. Just is what it is.

Thanks for the spelling correction. I was swipe typing quickly at work and missed it.

I tend to laugh at those types of reactions so it brings some joy to my day.
