Did the last tweak to the new SM rig. Put my weight plate on the inside. My stolen Hollis had it the same way (instructor set it up that way after hers). I don’t like handling my rig with weight in it. Too damned awkward. I can access the pockets much easier on this way than if they were on the back, facing in.

Diving Wazee tomorrow. Driving up same day. Nearly 4 hours but hotels have gotten too $$ as it’s closer to T’giving. I finally realized Wazee is just a bit longer drive than the WI mine and I do that in one day. Someone reported a few days ago that viz is 60ft. A bit of snow is forecast, but that won’t stop us.

Had hoped to dive the WI mine this weekend but buddies are unavailable. T’giving weekend then. Want to dive at the mine at least 1-2 days before FL trip.

Had a good one hour dive yesterday but wind was brutal so we did one and done. The 60ft viz we had been told about? It was great before the guys from LaCrosse were working on their search and recovery skills and destroyed the viz. They did apologize for silting us out! Worked some with my new DR slide lock reel to get used to it. Air temp was low-mid 30s. Water temp was 50F. Deepest we got was 42ft. There were nearly whitecaps on the lake when were done.

Several inches of snow were forecast but there was just a little on the grassy areas. Roads just a bit wet in places. Went for lunch after and ended up having breakfast. I got a good 8 hours of sleep the night before and with all the working out I’ve been doing on the bike at the gym, I wasn’t tired, even with nearly 8 hours driving yesterday. Hadn’t gotten a hotel because they were too $$. I’ll definitely drive up the same day again.

Jeez! 350fsw at the sump???

Yep. Wazee is where Adv Trimix training dives are done in the Midwest. Someone I know from WI recently went down to 320ft and videoed it. The silt was black down there. My curiousity of what it looks like at the bottom is satisfied. LOL.

A month to FL trip. :D

I’ll be stopping by Blue Grotto to get weighting set without my thick undies. I’ll be doing two days of guided dives and “intro to flow” with an instructor who came very well recommended by my WI friends. We’ll be at Peacock and Ginnie. Then I’ll be diving with friends from the Midwest and FL.

First WI cave dives of the season today. Great to be back at the mine.
