Do you have a grudge against Mega? I think that Soriana bought Mega.

No problemo,
Just that the markets back in the hood are more representative of the island then Mega.
I enjoy leaving my bicycle unlocked under the watchful eye of the local guy that watches the bikes out front. The first time I was skeptical, but my faith in humanity was maintained when my bike was waiting for me, watched by a man proud to do so for a few pesos.

P.S. the guys that wash your car in the parking lot under Mega will also watch your bike

And if anyone has a car on the Island with yellowed headlights, there is a gentleman named Edguardo who works at the AutoZone up past Sam's Club that will come to your location and restore them to clear again.

Despite my somewhat snarky comments earlier, you're absolutely right.
We stop in at Mega for the first big "stock up" shopping trip, then perfectly happy with the other stores, although Mega is the only one to have my Special K with Red Berries consistently.

Okay, I won't make any snarky comments about eating special k in Mexico.
My breakfast of choice is huevos con chaya.
Addy's Corner (Rincon de Addy) is my favorite breakfast spot.

My two favorite items at Mega are the fresh baked all butter croisants when available, and the little juice boxes of chocolate milk. There are a few different flavors and they are great energy drinks between dives. Those and the boxes of mango, pineapple, peach, papaya, etc juices

Use a pay service and have your groceries delivered..runs about $40.00...

Ok, well, for my minor needs, I don't guess it matters. I think all I bought at Mega was 2-750s of Kahlua. And there is still this.

My personal favorite market is the Chedraui on the transversal

:D We often make sandwiches for lunch too.
Dinners are ALWAYS out. We frequent the usual suspects, and have a list that most on this board have never heard of -- even a couple with wooden chairs.
I suspect that you'd enjoy some of our finds.

OK, then roll them out, why doncha?

We stock the fridges in our rooms with beer and food, mainly from Mega and the Chedraui on Melgar. Our usual routine is to either eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant or have PB and strawberry jam on toast at the room, lunch of ham sandwiches at the room, and dinner out every night. We have our own short list of faves for dinner, but we are open to exploring new eateries. I don't get the bit about the wooden chairs, though.

while you're at Mega, can you pick me up some Mole San Pedro Gourmet, please? Can't find it here in the states and the Chedraui on Isla Mujeres doesn't stock it. I need to get back to Coz.

I knew I could count on you guys to come up with some solutions to my dilemma! I am mulling over all suggestions. Normally the trip into town for dinner is not a big deal. However after traveling, I would like to unwind and prepare for diving the next day. Usually I love flying Southwest Airlines, but couldn't get a reasonable fare for this vacation. Grateful it didn't work out! Crossing fingers that AA won't do the same thing.
Hubby Buddy and I have several Residencias Reef stays. We also do not rent a car .(For us, Much less cost than daily car rental fees and no liability or responsibility) I suggest for your consideration to choose 1 person as a designated shopper, or 2 if you have a larger group, and purchase those shuttle tickets to your grocery store, while everyone else purchases shuttle tickets to the condo. The shopper(s) then get a taxi to the condo.

Also, do take shopping bags/totes with you.

Best Wishes and have a Wonderful trip !
