I'm pretty sure the plaintiff's legal team is reading and benefitting from the discussion.

Remember Linnea was a new diver who knew nothing about drysuits, aside from what the instructor told her, which was probably almost nothing.
Exactly my point???

Definitely not complaining, I am just surprised by the amount of content and trying to read it all.

I think this is due to a number of factors to the egregious number of poor judgments being made to the history of the shop and most importantly of all: such a young woman with her whole life ahead of her losing her life. Those are the greatest tragedies of all.

This is a horrible tragedy.

I am so sorry for the victim. If the facts in the reports are true, I sincerely hope justice will be served.

I hope the system will be changed so that this isnt repeated. There are many such tragedies that occur and no effort is made to stop them.

This is a very frustrating story.

At some point PADI needs to evaluate the Training Program in Key Largo. I am guessing which one Ms. Snow attended, I refuse to dive with them EVER again. DM's are dangerous, and lack knowledge and experience. My last dive with the shop, 3 years ago, the DM would have killed a older diver, if not for me recognizing the situation and providing assistance. I have run across their instructors on 3 occasions outside of their shop. I would never ever, let them train me, or my loved loves.

That said, they make a lot of dollars for PADI.

The name of the shop??

Ok. Nothing new to most here but...

My local beach entry is sloping, down to a bottom depth of between 23-30m (75-100ft).

Was wearing 0'Three crushed neoprene DS.

Began descent, didn't notice a whole lot till I got past 5m, by 10 it was noticeable but not painful, didn't notice any significant reduction in mobility.

By 15m was starting to sink rather quickly, being on a slope I was able to control the speed somewhat. It was now starting to get uncomfortable, although it wasn't a struggle to breath I could certainly feel the pressure.

Between 15 down to 20m it got very uncomfortable and moderately painful, it was getting very difficult for me to move.

I hit the bottom at a depth just shy of 24m (82ft).

Bending my arm was difficult, I could feel the pressure on my chest, breathing was certainly more difficult.

I know this would have all felt much worse in a trilam.

Now, I'm a relatively experienced diver, a semi experienced DS diver with around 300 DS dives. It was daylight, I was at a site I know like the back of my hand. Could somewhat control speed of descent. I knew what to expect. It was controlled. It wasn't fun.

At 24m I closed my eyes.

As we all know, there is almost no way a new diver with almost zero DS experience and with not much more normal diving experience is going to survive this in addition to every other factor that was going on at the time.

In the dark, alone, falling uncontrollably, little idea what was actually happening.

Damn.

That poor woman was doomed the second she "fell" off that ledge alone.

Beyond negligent. I don't know what justice is or should look like in this situation but I hope it's severe.

Poor wee thing.

I'm surprised that those are your only bruises/hickies and they do look painful. Or are these the only ones that you are willing to share?
